FAYETTEVILLE — Carolyn E. Peterson,

age 86, of Fayetteville passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020. She was born Aug. 15, 1934, in New Hope, Iowa, to Carl Owens and Audrey Collen Conard Emerson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Clarence Payne, Loren Clark and Terry Peterson; her daughter, Brenda Clark True; a sister, Marilyn Gay, brother-in-law David Gay; brother Bob Emerson and his wife Maureen, sister Kay Phillips and her husband Jim, all greatly missed & loved.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Springdale and was a retired USDA Inspector.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Michelle Baker of Lilburn, Ga.; two sons, Randall Payne and his wife Mary of Fayetteville and Rick Clark and his wife Rosemary Detore of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Jeremy and Alicia Baker, Alaina and Justin Hornsby, Kristy Payne, Randa Payne, Cory Payne, Chris and Amanda Hayes, Amber Thomas, Ashlee and Keegan Sams, Hayley and Chris Wiley, Amanda and Brandon Nichols; and great-grandchildren Chase Hornsby, Haley Hornsby, Darrian Jackson, Jessie Payne, Lanie Thomas, Emerie Thomas, Kaylex Sams, Ziggy Sams, Martii Sams, William Hayes, Eleanor Hayes, Jolene Baker, Degn Baker, Avery Nichols, Sloane Nichols, Rowan Nichols, Josh McClain, Brayden and Wrylee Wiley, Isaiah Wiley, Grace Wiley, Daniel Wiley and Kate Wiley.

Memorial service will be announced at a later date with burial of ashes in the Fayetteville National Cemetery with her last husband Terrance Peterson, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
