Unsubstantiated tales

-

I have to question your paper’s editorial judgment after reading Mike Masterson’s column Tuesday trying to spread debunked theories of Patrick Byrne, the former CEO of Overstock.com who was asked to resign after spreading his unfounded conspiracy theories last summer. He cites Byrne’s interview on OAN, the far-right “news” channel that is currently trying to gain audience by supporting Trump’s baseless claims. I watched the “interview” and then Googled Byrne. That told me all I needed to know.

Masterson should watch the “60 Minutes” interview with Chris Krebs, former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency, a real cybersecurity expert who was fired by Trump for the sin of saying the election was fair and secure. In that interview, Byrne has simple proof. The hand recounts in Georgia and now Wisconsin have come to the same result as the electronically tabulated results. If there was the massive fraud Byrne refers to, it would have shown up in the recounts.

Tuesday, William Barr, who is an obvious Trump ally, said the DOJ and

DHS had investigated the claims of voting machines being doctored and found no evidence of that happening.

Meanwhile, your opinion columnist continues to spread unfounded lies. Trump has raised millions from his supporters to form his own PAC and line his pockets. We have not seen this kind of blatant lying to overturn an election in our lifetimes. It is the job of the press to print the truth, not unsubstantiated conspiracy theories. That includes your right-wing opinion columnists. BRUCE PLANTZ Little Rock
