FAYETTEVIL­LE — Patricia Jo Anderson “Pat” Waldren,

age 85, of Fayette ville passed away on Nov. 28, 2020. Pat was born in Fayettevil­le to Jesse and Jo Anderson on Sept. 16, 1935.

She was preceded in death by her parents and dear friends Mary Heflin, Mona Holt and LaWanda Waltman.

Pat is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Pam Waldren, of Fayettevil­le; granddaugh­ter Eve Reecer (Baxter) of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandson, Drew Waldren of Fayettevil­le; sister, Mary Weisz and nephew Randy Porter (Sharon) of California; nephew, Mike Porter of Texas; and many cousins. Other survivors include her very dear friends, Shirley May, Susan Hunt, Suzie Jenkins, Jo Marr, Susie Stewart, Patsy Williford, Faye Jones, Frances Ross, Alice Fletcher and Denise May.

A product of the Fayettevil­le Public Schools, Pat developed a lifelong interest in politics after serving as a delegate and then later as a counselor to Arkansas Girls State.

Pat received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Arkansas and taught for over 40 years in Fayettevil­le, first at Root Elementary and later in her career at Holt Middle School. Pat was dedicated to her students and the teaching profession and worked diligently for many years toward the improvemen­t of both. Pat was a member of the Fayettevil­le Education Associatio­n, Arkansas Education Associatio­n, and National Education Associatio­n. Pat served as FEA president for four years and during that time was a member of the organizing committee for what would become the Fayettevil­le Public Schools Education Foundation.

The family would like to thank Katherine’s Place for their care.

Cremation is under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
