Not business as usual

-

Thursday night we heard Governor Hutchinson speak. He was eloquent and impressive. What was missing? There were no new restrictions for a virus that’s out of control. Deaths rise, hospitals are about to be overwhelmed. Our health-care workers are exhausted, our teachers must be growing tired. In short, so many good people are doing so much. Never mind, it’s business as usual.

What else do we have? Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge added her name to a lawsuit to try to overturn the results of the presidential election. Since she wants to be governor of Arkansas, do you think she would do this if she didn’t think that’s what the people of Arkansas wanted? She was joined by Representatives Rick Crawford and Bruce Westerman. What a sad and shameful day for our state. What do you think would happen if that lawsuit succeeded? Do you want to live in a democracy?

We’re in the middle of the pandemic. We know the three Ws. We know we shouldn’t travel and we should avoid large crowds. What about the people and businesses who don’t do these things? They’re potentially a dangerous enemy. They’re not our friends. Intentional or not, they may cause our death or a member of our family’s death. The main thing is to avoid them and remember who they are. Most of all, let’s care about each other, try to help each other, and know that somewhere out there a brighter, more wonderful day is right around the corner. Let’s all try to make sure we see it.
