BELLA VISTA — Don D. Fenton,
90, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away Dec. 14, 2020, at Circle of Life Hospice Bentonville. He was born Feb. 16, 1930, in Hutchinson, Kan., to the late James and Ruth (Hart) Fenton.
He was the loving husband of Mary (LeClair) Fenton for 67 years.
Don served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the Hutchinson, Kan., Fire Dept. for 27 years where he retired as captain. He held many other jobs during and after his time at the fire department.
After retiring Don and his family moved to Arkansas in 1980. He continued working and was employed by Beaver Lake Concrete and was an integral part of its early success driving a cement truck, dispatching, and selling concrete. While living on the “shores,” Don and Mary spent many days on the boat fishing, enjoying Beaver Lake and spending time with family and friends.
After moving to Bella Vista in 1993, he worked at several of the Bella Vista golf courses. He loved to golf and was a member of the Bella Vista Men’s 9 Hole Golf Association. He continued to golf until the age of 90.
Don was preceded in death by his brother, Ervin Fenton of Largo, Fla., and great-granddaughter Hannah Kukuk of Perry, Okla.
He is survived wife Mary; daughter Cindy Van Meter of Bella Vista; son Steve Fenton and wife Judy of Bentonville; sister Norma Gibson of Rogers; grandchildren Christy Kukuk, Michael Fenton, Sarah Fenton and Megan Van Meter; and three great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 21, from 2-4 p.m. at Bella Vista Funeral Home chapel. Interment will be at Fayetteville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice Bentonville. Condolences may be expressed at www.funeralmation.com .
