BENTONVILLE — On Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, Jack Richard Bonds Jr.,

-

also known as “Rick Bonds”, passed away at the age of 69 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers due to complications of covid-19.

He was a loving husband, father, papa, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend to so many.

He was born Sept. 23, 1951, to Jack R. Bonds Sr. and Frances Holman Bonds in Canyon, Texas. Rick’s family moved to Rogers in December of 1959. He worked with his family on their dairy farm and also with the turkeys, hogs and beef cattle. He attended Bentonville Schools and graduated in the class of 1971 from Bentonville High School.

On June 30, 1972, Rick married the true love of his life, Nancy Rosenbaum Bonds. Together they raised six children — four sons, Jeff, Joey, Andy and Josh and two daughters, Shelley and Cyndi.

Rick was always a hard-working man; he made sure he provided for his family. After realizing his love for excavating, he started Bonds Excavating in 1976, which is still operating today. Because of this business he was able to touch many lives and help make Bentonville what it is today.

He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing, working with cattle, grilling, watching his children/grandchildren play sports and watching John Wayne movies.

He was always ready and willing to help the Bentonville and Centerton community. He was formerly a member of the Benton County Mounted Patrol and a board member for Benton County Farm Bureau. Rick was a member of First Baptist Church Centerton. His Christian faith was enhanced by Cliff Palmer and the members of First Baptist Church Centerton, to whom we will be forever grateful.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Nancy Bonds of Bentonville; his mother, Frances H. Bonds of Rogers; sister, Debbie Bonds Furner (Steve) of Rogers; son, Jeff Bonds (Shawna) of Centerton; son, Joey Bonds (Dana) of Bentonville; daughter, Shelley Clark (Shane) of Bentonville; daughter, Cyndi Hemphill (Justin) of Centerton; son, Andy Bonds (Alex) of Centerton; son, Josh Bonds of Bentonville; 10 grandchildren, Annabelle, Charlie, Cole, Kaci, Chase, Stella, Denver, Jackson, Fletcher and Baby Bonds; step-grandchild, Taylor; and step-great-grandchildren, Everleigh and Baby Ginn.

Rick was preceded in death by his dad, Jack R. Bonds Sr.; brother, Larry Bonds; and twin siblings, Gary and Carrie Bonds.

Visitation is set for Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, from 5-7 p.m., at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church Centerton. A celebration of life will be held July 4, 2021, at his home in Bentonville.
