ROGERS — Carolyn Lee Nichols

of Rogers, Ark., passed away Dec. 24, 2020, at age 71. Born Dec. 3, 1949, in Pocahontas, Ark., Carolyn was the firstborn of five children to Alvin and Mary Pifer.

Shortly after, the family moved to Rockford, Ill., where Carolyn completed school, married, and became Carolyn Sommer. In 1975, she and her husband and two daughters settled in Northwest Arkansas.

Carolyn spent most of her life working as a bookkeeper to help provide for her family. Her children and grandchild­ren were her greatest joys. She adored babies and children, and she looked forward to the day she would become a great-grandmothe­r.

Carolyn belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was actively engaged in church service for many years. She looked for opportunit­ies to serve others, especially during the holidays. Carolyn also loved cooking and was famous for her Valentine peanut butter bears, fried chicken, and the best apple pie in town.

Carolyn is survived by husband Joe Nichols of Rogers, Ark.; children Lance and Tiffany Hatch, Tahney Sommer, Tim and Theresa Nichols and Gina Signorelli; grandchild­ren Luke and Ashley Sommer, Jeff and Mackenzie Greene, Chandler Hatch, London Hatch, Spencer Hatch, Mia Hatch and Joy Nichols; siblings Kathy Gill, Randy Pifer, Larry Pifer and Teri Mickelson; and a multitude of beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents Alvin and Mary Pifer.

Services for Carolyn will be Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2805 N. Dixieland Road in Rogers, Ark. A viewing will be held at 1 p.m. and the funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Interment will follow the service. Arrangemen­ts by Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th Rogers.
