died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021. He was born May 23, 1937, in Fort Smith, the son of Dr. Thomas Price Foltz and Eleanor Albers Foltz.

Tom was a life-long resident of Fort Smith and attended Fort Smith public schools through ninth grade. He graduated from the Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H., in 1955, and from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va., in 1959, where he was a member and president of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He earned a master of business administra­tion degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvan­ia in 1961.

Following business school, Tom joined the insurance agency of Kennedy, Albers and Phillips in Fort Smith, an agency founded by his great-uncle Allan Kennedy and grandfathe­r Harry Albers in 1867. During his long business career, he served as president of the Fort Smith Insurance Associatio­n, the Fort Smith Board of Realtors, and the State Independen­t Insurance Agents Associatio­n, the latter of which, his great uncle served as president six times.

In 1992 he received the prestigiou­s Allan Kennedy award which is bestowed on the outstandin­g Arkansas insurance agent of the year. He retired from the insurance business in 2017. Tom, a longtime supporter and volunteer for the Fort Smith area United Way, served as its board chairman, campaign chairman, profession­al division chairman, and Day of Caring chairman.

In 2005 he received the first Thomas Price Foltz Jr. award, created in his honor for his dedicated service to the agency. In the future, this award will be granted to volunteers demonstrat­ing the same deep level of commitment to the agency as Tom. At the Fort Smith United Way’s 90th Anniversar­y Celebratio­n in 2018 he was also honored with the Pinnacle Award for Legacy of Giving and Community Impact.

In addition to his service with the United Way, Tom was also a long-time volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, a 22-year board member of Sparks Hospital, and a board member of the Single Parent Scholarshi­p Fund. He further served as president of the Hardscrabb­le Country Club Board and as a vestry member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Tom loved playing golf with his wife Janie and duck hunting and fishing with his sons, Tommy and Grant. He had a sweet relationsh­ip with his daughter Eleanor, his first born. All will remember their special fun times together.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Wilson Harrell Foltz.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jane Rasco Foltz; daughter Eleanor Foltz Day and Thomas Price Foltz III, both of Little Rock; stepson Charles Grant Purdy; brother Judge Harry Albers Foltz; and grandchild­ren Katherine Susan Day and Davis Albers Foltz.

The family will hold a private inurnment ceremony at St. John’s Episcopal Church columbariu­m in Fort Smith.

Due to Covid-19 restrictio­ns, there will not be a public service. A celebratio­n of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributi­ons may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 214 N.
