Hogs to open with Texas Tech

- — Matt Jones

FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas’ baseball season opener will be against a familiar opponent from the Big 12, just not the one originally planned.

The Razorbacks are now scheduled to open the season with a game against Texas Tech on Feb. 19 at the College Baseball Showdown in Arlington, Texas. Arkansas’ schedule release earlier this week listed Texas as the season-opening opponent, but the Razorbacks’ games against the Longhorns and Red Raiders were swapped.

Arkansas is scheduled to play Texas on Feb. 20 and TCU on Feb. 21 at Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers. All three games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The Razorbacks are familiar with all three teams they will see in Arlington, having played each at least once since 2019.

Tickets for the College Baseball Showdown go on sale at 1 p.m. Thursday through the Rangers’ website. Single-day tickets are $25 and a weekend pass is $50. Attendance each day will be capped at between 14,000 and 15,000, according to the Rangers.
