ELKINS — Lawerence Kenneth Smith,
86, of Elkins passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, quietly at his home surrounded by family. He was born near the Whitehouse in the community in Arnett, Ark., to Homer Andrew Smith and Myrl Mellissa (Chandler) Smith.
Lawerence married Kathleen Glisson on Dec. 8,1951. He was a member of the Crystal Hills Family Fellowship Church. He lived in Wichita, Kan., owning his own business for years prior to moving back home to Arkansas in 1973. After moving back to Arkansas, he and his brother, Jerry Don owned and operated Smith’s Heat and Air until retirement. He was an expert craftsman and helped anyone in need, never turning anyone away.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother James Alvin Smith and grandsons Shane Smith-Pulsifer and Billy Lawrence Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Kathleen Smith of the home; daughter Darlene Smith-Cole (Allen); son Larry Dean Smith (Charlene); brother Jerry Don Smith (Janet); sister Linda VanBrunt (Jackie), all of Elkins; grandchildren Taylor Smith of Elkins and Jilene Christenson (Roger) of Minnesota; great-grandchildren Aryanna Boyer-Smith of Centerton and Chase Boyer of Fayetteville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at the Crystal Hills Family Fellowship Church. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. with Jasper Hankins officiating. Burial will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Elkins Funeral Service.
