■ Natasha Nancel and her friend Melvil Arnt were both charged with driving under the influence in Tennessee after Arnt, who was attempting to pull Nancel’s car out of a ditch, hit her car with his truck, according to Nashville police.

■ Larry Rice, a minister at the New Life Evangelist­ic Center in St. Louis, said the homeless shelter is offering a $1,000 reward for the return of a 400-pound bronze statue of Jesus as a homeless man sleeping on a bench that was stolen from outside the center after several attempts.

■ Tony Liu and Lindsay Schuyler, two U.S. fashion bloggers, were named in an Italian defamation lawsuit filed by fashion house Dolce & Gabbana after the bloggers reposted anti-Asian comments attributed to one of the Milan designers that contribute­d to a boycott by Asian consumers.

■ Nikolas Loebel, a lawmaker with Germany’s Christian Democratic Union party, said he will give up his seat in parliament and leave politics after it emerged that a company he runs earned commission­s of nearly $300,000 from brokering contracts to buy masks early in the pandemic.

■ Victor Medina, a sheriff’s office spokesman in Ventura County, Calif., said 51-year-old Gerry Gilhool died after he and another man, who were both surfing at a popular beach, collided in the water and both suffered head injuries.

■ Maris Herold, the police chief in Boulder, Colo., said officers called in a SWAT team and used tear gas to break up a large party near the University of Colorado that devolved into a violent police confrontat­ion that left three officers injured, and that his office is reviewing video to identify the individual­s involved.

■ Demethius Dixon, 29, of Shreveport, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for a shooting at a Hattiesbur­g, Miss., restaurant during a drug deal that left one person dead, according to prosecutor­s.

■ Sylvie Lapointe, a spokeswoma­n for Canada Post, said the agency has begun sending out free, prepaid postcards to each of the country’s roughly 13.5 million households so that recipients can write to someone they’ve been missing during the pandemic.

■ Sandra M., 25, whose surname wasn’t released in accordance with German privacy laws, was sentenced to life imprisonme­nt for killing a 2-year-old girl at a kindergart­en where she worked in Viersen, Germany.
