1A-1 Regional Tournament At Lead Hill

Boys THE NEW SCHOOL 40, COUNTY LINE 31

The New School scored almost as many points in the fourth quarter as it did in the first three as the Cougars claimed a regional tournament title for the second straight year.

Evan Goldman scored 23 points and was the only player in double figures for The New School, which trailed 1615 halftime lead and led 22-20 going into the fourth quarter. Goldman hit a three-pointer for the Cougars’ first lead of the game in the final seconds of the third quarter.

Aundrae Milum and Drake Price each had 11 points for County Line.

Both teams will play in the Class 1A state tournament at Greers Ferry West Side. The New School (36-3) takes on Brinkley at 7 p.m. today, and County Line will play Wonderview at 7 p.m. Thursday.

OZARK MOUNTAIN 63, LEAD HILL 49

Zack Bolin had 33 points to lead Ozark Mountain past host Lead Hill in the third-place game.

Marcus Bunch added 16 for the Bears, who outscored Lead Hill 2415 in the second quarter and turned a seven-point lead into a 37-21 halftime cushion.

TJ Catron had 22 points for Lead Hill while Pierce Marshall added 10.

Girls KINGSTON 45, OZARK MOUNTAIN 43

Kingston staged a fourth-quarter rally and nipped Ozark Mountain in Saturday’s championsh­ip game.

The Lady Yellowjack­ets outscored the Lady Bears 17-9 over the final 8 minutes to erase a six-point deficit.

Jaidyn Head led Kingston with 13 points, followed by Mellia Johnson with 10. Kaleena Ricketts and Macy Young paced Ozark Mountain with 14 and 10 points, respective­ly.

JASPER 54, LEAD HILL 39

Jasper outscored Lead Hill 14-7 to take the lead and capture the third-place game Saturday morning.

The Lady Pirates were able to turn a one-point deficit into a 23-17 halftime lead and continued to pull away in the second half, leading by 38-29 after the third quarter.

Aubrey Henderson had 18 points to lead four Jasper players in double figures, followed by Halle Emerson and Brooklyn Flud with 11 apiece and Kaylee Reynolds with 10. Lily Norman had 18 points and was the only Lead Hill in double figures.

PREP BASEBALL ROGERS 2, JONESBORO 1

Jackson Wells tossed a two-hitter and struck out 13 to help the Mounties claim a hard-fought win.

Rogers manufactur­ed the first run of the game in the third. Eli Marcotte’s groundout scored J.T. Melson with the first run of the game in the third. Melson was hit by a pitch to start the inning, went to second on a single by Kade Seldomridg­e and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Finley Bunch.

The Mounties added an unearned run in the fifth thanks to a pair of Jonesboro errors to lead 2-0.

The Hurricane pulled within 2-1, stealing home on the back end of a double steal. But Wells got the strikeout to end the inning and leave the tying run in scoring position.

Seldomridg­e and Ty Frakes had two hits each for the Mounties (3-1).

BATESVILLE 6, BENTONVILL­E WEST 2

Batesville broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth and defeated West in a game played Saturday at Rogers Heritage’s new field.

The Wolverines (3-1) matched the Pioneers with six hits as Landon Grigg and Cole Kitchens had two hits and scored a run apiece.

Drew Carter threw five innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and struck out five.

West returns to action today with a game against North Little Rock at Russellvil­le, then travels Tuesday to Gravette.

FARMINGTON 8, SYLVAN HILLS 4

The Cardinals broke open a tight game with a five-run sixth, taking advantage of Sylvan Hills mistakes.

Leading 3-2, Farmington scored five runs on just one hit. The Cardinals took advantage of three errors, two walks, a hit batsman and a pair of passed balls to put together a big inning for some breathing room.

Cole Cantrell pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the win. He struck out three and didn’t walk a man.

Chase Brown singled, drove in two runs and scored once for the Cardinals.

FARMINGTON 15, SOUTHSIDE BATESVILLE 2

The Cardinals took control with a 10run first inning and cruised to the win.

Trevor McCuin went 3-for-3 and drove in a run, while Trey Hill and Caden Elsik both homers for Farmington. Lead-off man Tate Sutton also scored three times.

ROGERS HERITAGE 2, MOUNTAIN HOME 1

Cole Richardson’s run-scoring single in the seventh inning lifted the War Eagles to the win.

Ethan Martin walked leading off the second, moved to second on Michael Johannsen’s bunt single and scored on Richardson’s single to center field.

Heritage tied the game in the sixth as Jeb Brown drew a lead-off walk, moved to second when Quentin Edwards was hit by a pitch and scored on a Mountain Home error.

Brown picked up the win with a scoreless top of the seventh.

VAN BUREN 17, BATESVILLE 2

Tanner Callahan and Brecklin Waters had two hits and drove in two runs each to help the Pointers roll to the run-rule win.

Van Buren ended the game with a 10-run bottom of the fourth. Connor Johnson also drove in four.

Luke Hughes picked up the win, pitching four innings and not allowing an earned run. He allowed one hit and struck out five.

VAN BUREN 5, PARAGOULD 1

Devin Gattis drove in two runs and picked up the win on the mound against the Rams.

Gattis allowed a run five hits over five innings. He struck out six and didn’t walk a batter. Connor Brady finished up with two scoreless innings for the Pointers.

SHILOH CHRISTIAN 11, MCCRORY 0

Drew Dudley went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs as the Saints rolled to the easy win.

Three other Saints added two hits each. Dakota Goble and Jonas Nantze combined on a two-hitter. Goble pitched four innings, struck out two and walked two to pick up the win.

BRYANT 7, SPRINGDALE 1

A six-run seventh inning propelled the Hornets to a win against Springdale.

The game was tied at 1-1 through the first six innings.

Cooper Combs, Clay Van Vacter and Kyle Langford had hits for the Bulldogs.

Van Vacter scattered 6 hits over 4 innings and struck out 3 for Springdale.

CONWAY 8, SPRINGDALE 2

The Wampus Cats scored 5 runs in the top of the seventh to put Springdale away.

The game was tied at 2-2 until the top of the fifth when Conway scored a run to take a 3-2 lead.

Jake McCool, Cooper Combs, Yandiel Canales and Kyle Langford all had hits for the Bulldogs.

Colton Kelley went 5 innings on the mound for Springdale and allowed just 3 hits with a pair of strikeouts.

PREP SOFTBALL FS NORTHSIDE 5, GREENBRIER 3

Cailin Massey homered in the first inning to help the Lady Grizzlies claim a win against Greenbrier.

All the scoring came in the first inning for both teams. Hannah Entrekin was 2-for-2 for Northside.

Massey earned the win in the circle, allowing 7 hits and 2 strikeouts over 4 innings.

FS NORTHSIDE 11, SYLVAN HILLS 1

Tori Sumbler hit a pair of doubles and drove in 3 runs as Northside claimed a run-rule win.

The Lady Grizzlies belted 7 extra-base hits. Cailin Massey and Chloe Ray each drove in a pair of runs.

Mallory Craig was dominant in the circle, allowing just 3 hits with 6 strikeouts for Northside.

BEEBE 6, FS NORTHSIDE 2

A 2-0 lead vanished in the seventh inning as Beebe’s K Picker smashed a walk-off grand slam.

Picker’s home was the last of six straight hits in the inning for Beebe.

Cailin Massey was 2-for-4 for Northside, and Hannah Entrekin and Chloe Ray belted doubles for the Lady Grizzlies.

PREP SOCCER Boys BENTONVILL­E WEST 6, CLAREMORE, OKLA., 1

Jesus Hernandez scored two goals to lead the Wolverines past Claremore, Okla.

Jonas Pearson, Josh Buxton, Cole Caples, and Stefan Gerlei added a goal apiece. Claremore’s only goal came off a penalty kick.
