And it continues … The $1.9 trillion “blowout” spending bill cost is exactly the same as the Republican tax cut — $1.9 trillion. I must have missed the editorial condemning the Trump blowout tax cut (mostly honey money for the wealthy). By the way, Trump’s 2020 deficit totals up to $4.2 trillion. Where is the outrage?

But let’s gird up the Old Republican loins, folks: If Biden is true to his word (which will be a relief after the last four years) we hope to see perhaps the largest tax raise since FDR, targeting the top earners. These are the people who have seen enormous increases in total wealth every year since Eisenhower.

It will be hard to get there, President Biden. Billionaires can (and many will) donate millions a year and still make enough to build toward their next billion. Those political donations will buy state legislators in droves, who will in turn enact sufficient voter-suppression laws to tramp down the Democratic (and “Woke” Republican) movement.

So, Joe: (1) Kill the Senate filibuster, the worst legacy of the Jim Crow era. (2) Push a “wealth” tax as far as it will go, and tax the top 10% incomes down to the bone. (3) Find and fund Republican primary challengers; they will expose the vulnerabilities. (4) Go all-out to win every general election Senate and House seat; don’t concede even one. (5) Add four more judges to the U.S. Supreme Court and do it soon. Nine is a nice number; 13 is even nicer in these reactionary times.
