College of Nursing at UAMS
4301 W. MARKHAM ST. | LITTLE ROCK NURSING.UAMS.EDU | 501-686-5224
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Nursing was designed to help meet the pressing statewide demands for a larger number of skilled nurses and to make available to the people of Arkansas the best possible educational preparation for the profession of nursing. Students in the nursing programs receive a world-class education from leaders in their fields. UAMS is dedicated to educating the next generation of nurses, advanced practice nurses, and nurse researchers and educators who will train and lead members of the profession for decades to come.
PROGRAMS
Exceptional education, service and scholarship are provided by committed UAMS faculty and staff. The college offers a comprehensive array of programs, including a pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, a registered nursing-BSN, a master’s, post-master’s completion, and both practice and research doctorates, including a new program to prepare nurse anesthetists for certification. The programs extend beyond the main campus in Little Rock, with access available for learners in Northwest Arkansas as well. In short, the college has a nursing program to meet any need.
WORKFORCE
The academic programs challenge students so they are prepared to address current and future health care needs, including curricula that incorporate the growing demand for nurses well-trained in practicing digital health. However, it is the people in the College of Nursing who make the difference. The people at UAMS, from faculty who have earned national recognition in their fields to support staff who love their students as much as their jobs at the college, are committed to providing students with the very best education and support.
Perhaps UAMS is a hidden gem. Some have said the university is Arkansas’ best-kept secret, although staff members are not trying to keep the facility secret. UAMS is a place to grow and learn that values kindness, and a place that emphasizes academic excellence. Staff members believe that the soul of nursing is compassion, and the team works to cultivate that simple value of a servant’s heart in each student.
ADMISSIONS
The cost of the degree programs is competitive, but the university also recognizes and appreciates that financial circumstances often dictate career opportunities. College administrators believe in ability and offer financial assistance based on demonstrated need in all of the college’s degree programs.
So those who are looking for a highquality education at an affordable price and an opportunity to learn from leaders in their field who practice what they teach and value teamwork, collegiality, respect, diversity and kindness, can look no further. UAMS College of Nursing is the right place.
