According to a recent study that measures the economic impacts and returns on investment of the university to its students, taxpayers and society, UCA added $1.01 billion in income to the Arkansas economy and supported 19,506 jobs in fiscal year 2018-19.
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Students may choose from more than 160 degree and certificate options, which include undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs offered in person and online. The university’s innovative academics feature hands-on opportunities, as well as professors who invest in their students. This fall, the university welcomed one of its most academically qualified incoming freshman classes, with students having an average composite ACT score of 24.2 and a composite high school gradepoint average of 3.59.
The Norbert O. Schedler Honors College at UCA was the first in Arkansas and continues to provide an interdisciplinary approach to learning through small classes taught in seminar format.
As a result of unprecedented interest from qualified students, the University Scholars program was added in 2018 to increase honors opportunities for UCA students.
The Norbert O. Schedler Honors College and the University Scholars program are highly competitive programs that provide an interdisciplinary studies curriculum that emphasizes scholarship, leadership and citizenship. Students develop the research and critical-thinking skills needed for active involvement in civic life.
VIBRANT CAMPUS
The UCA campus provides an active community of more than 200 clubs, service organizations and opportunities for students. These include learning, leadership, community building, creative expression, volunteerism, mentoring and more. UCA’s broad and diverse network of local, regional, national and international community partners offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for students.
For more than 100 years, the Greek system at UCA has offered an opportunity for involvement that is truly unique. Scholarship, leadership, brotherhood and sisterhood, community service and social activities are the key elements of more than 20 fraternities and sororities at UCA.
UCA was the first public university in Arkansas to establish living and learning communities, and since opening the first Residential College in 1997, UCA continues to offer the largest, most comprehensive program in the state. In each Residential College, students take classes together and participate in engaging activities outside of class led by a live-in faculty member and peer mentors. Students also engage in local and global communities through volunteerism, service-learning projects and study-abroad opportunities.
