CLARKSVILLE — Mary Thompson Henderson
died March 17, 2021, at her home on Walton Street in Clarksville. Mary was born March 11, 1931, in Clarksville to Jess and Elenora (Steuber) Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Larry Henderson; brother Jess Thompson Jr.; and sister Dorothy Edwards.
Mary was a graduate of Clarksville High School and attended College of the Ozarks in Clarksville. She was an accomplished pianist and organist having studied under the direction of Hattie Mae Butterfield, director of music at C of O.
She was employed by Armil Taylor Insurance in Clarksville before taking up residence in Tulsa, Okla., joining Sinclair Oil Company. She moved from there to Dallas, Texas, to be with British Petroleum Oil. On her retirement she and Larry moved back to Rogers, Ark., a town she dearly loved.
Upon Larry’s death she returned to her hometown. Life was peaceful and good, with family and friends and pets close by. Ill health overtook her in 2018, and because of it she became acquainted with many loving caregivers.
Take your rest, Mary. You will be sorely missed by your brother, Raymond Thompson and wife Jane of North Carolina; sister Anna Brewer and family of Tulsa, Okla., and sister Barbara Wilson and husband Toby of Clarksville; caregivers and friends Walter Woodward, Bettie Rose Melson, Jennifer Howard and Christie Sinclair; and precious pets Billy, Patches and Ms. Mclaine.
A light went out here for us, but it’s shining in Heaven.
Memorials may be made to Needy Paws Animal Shelter, 1040 E. Main St., in Clarksville. Burial was under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home in Clarksville, Ark.
