SELIGMAN, Mo. — John Deans,

70, of Seligman, Mo., passed away at his home surrounded by his family and friends on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Mr. Deans, son of Jonathan and Myrtle (Twitty) Deans, was born May 10, 1950, in Gateway, Ark.

He was a 1968 Southwest R-5 High School graduate, and subsequent­ly enlisted in the Army where he served his country proudly. On March 17, 1969, he was united in marriage to Donna Thompson in Seligman.

John worked for Emerson Electric in Rogers, Ark., and later went on to work for Northwest Arkansas Community College for 16 years as a lab supervisor.

John enjoyed hiking and was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arkansas Razorbacks. One of his favorite pastimes was genealogy; he would spend hours on the computer searching his family’s ancestry and background­s. John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washburn where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a dear friend to so many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Donna Deans of Seligman; son John “Sid” Deans and wife Krista of Bella Vista, Ark.; step-granddaugh­ters Melanie Chandler of Fayettevil­le, Ark., and Vanessa Chandler-Van Riper and husband Tim of West Fork, Ark.; step-great-grandchild­ren Emma, Maddi, George and Persie; sisters Mary Mason of Rogers, Ark., and Wanda Anderson of Monett, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by daughter Jennifer Susan Deans, grandson Cody W. Deans and brother Henry Deans.

Graveside services with military honors were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021, at the Seligman City Cemetery with Pastor Glenn Erwin officiatin­g.
