FAYETTEVILLE — Orin “Bud” Joseph Wallace Farnsworth,

-

born May 29, 1939, passed awa y surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, at the age of 82, in Fayetteville, Ark. Bud was born in Rawlins, Wyo., to his beloved mother, Mary Marie Cecilia Dickey and father, Albert Joseph Farnsworth.

Growing up between Wyoming and Colorado, he lived a humble life and developed a hard work ethic. Bud graduated from Baggs High School in 1958 with a full-ride scholarship to the University of Wyoming but pursued his dream of flying and entered the Air Force. After sustaining a knee injury that sent him home, he met the love of his life, Jacquline White, the summer of 1962. Four months later they were married. Over the next several years, they welcomed two beautiful daughters, Janene and Renee.

Bud always worked hard providing for his family as an entrepreneur, carpenter and janitor. Together, he and Jacque owned and renovated apartments and homes and developed the Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, Village Inn, Safeway and the Centennial Mall in Craig, Colo. Their third precious daughter, Jessica was born shortly thereafter. He fulfilled his parents’ dream when he formed a public gold mining corporation. Despite his successes, Bud always remained humble, offering a helping hand to all. He provided free food and rent, plowed driveways and shoveled snow, and served as a surrogate father to countless youth and missionaries, just to name a few. Bud and his family moved to Grand Junction, Colo., in 1985 and were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints one year later. He wrote business plans, began writing a novel based on true stories from his life and his love for God, and overcame health challenges with flying colors.

Bud’s family was his life. He and Jacque moved to Fayetteville, Ark., in 2016, to be closer to Jessica and her family and continued to make wonderful friendships and memories through his membership in the church and associations with Dapper Dans and the Veteran’s Hospital. He loved and considered his neighbors family. They loved him and his grandchildren adored him. He truly inspired all who knew him with his kindness, generosity, and overwhelming love for everyone. Bud’s wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss him beyond measure. From long dinner conversations with family and friends to privileged discussions in his office, to games of Uno, dominoes, and threes, to coloring pictures that decorated his office walls, teaching grandchildren to drive, coaching kids in the batting cages, and taking walks to the park, Honey, Bud, Dad, Grandpa Bear, Papa Bear will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Louise Bogren. Survived by his wife of over 60 years, Jacquline White Farnsworth; three daughters, Janene Ethington (Don), Renee Jewell (Bob), and Jessica Allee (Kris); 17 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Chuck White; and the Nicoletto and Villard families in Craig.

Bud overcame many obstacles and did it all with humility and gratitude to God. Many thanks go out to the wonderful nurses and doctors at Veteran’s Hospital, Washington Regional Hospital, and Encompass Rehab and Home Health.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be announced in the coming week.
