60 Acre Multi-Residential Development

-

Local businessman Lew Thompson, owner of Lew Thompson & Son Trucking, with a large regional presence in North Arkansas and South Missouri, has acquired property in Harrison and is developing a two-phased, multi-residential project. The 60 acres on Gipson Road is directly north of the new Countryside Assisted Living facility soon to be opened there. Phase I of the project will entail 18 acres with 54 one-third acre single family home lots for sale, and 12 acres of duplex-fourplex apartments that will be for lease.

The 30 acres of Phase II is still being planned but will likely include additional residential lots and lease units.

Melissa Collins, principal broker at Weichert, Realtors-Market Edge, and chair of the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, noted the announcement “could not have come at a more critical time for the community. We have very few single-family homes and hardly any apartment rentals available in our MLS, so it’s perfect for Harrison and the surrounding area.”

Thompson said, “We located our second trucking terminal in Harrison three years ago and I’m very pleased with the reception we and our employees have had. In addition to having family in Harrison, I believe in the community and its potential, recognized the need, the property became available, and we’re excited to begin the development.” He added, “I’ve met with Mayor Jackson, Wade Phillips and Fire Chief Marc Lowery, and my architect and engineer hope to have an initial platte ready for the Planning and Zoning Commission in the next several days.”

Mayor Jerry Jackson of Harrison said, “The City welcomes Lew Thompson and this residential development, an important need for the community. As a former realtor and at one time recalling several hundred homes on the market in the region, these new homes and apartments will add substantially to the inventory and provide our newcomers with many options to live and work locally. Thanks Lew!”

Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Bob Largent said, “I’ve enjoyed working with Lew, his son Josh and their team the past two-plus years. They have real credibility and are interested in the growth and prosperity of Harrison and Boone County. Developing this residential project is a critical aspect of our economic development plans, and we’re excited to partner with them to make it a reality. More homes. More jobs. More growth.”
