FAYETTEVIL­LE — Thomas Luke “Tom” Skaggs,

63, of Fayettevil­le, Ark., passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in Fayettevil­le.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers, Ark., celebrated by the Reverend Keith Higginboth­am. Burial will follow at the St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.

Tom was born in Harrison, Ark., to Catherine Sue and William I. “Snowball” Skaggs on August 26, 1958. He graduated from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School, attended the Rogers Public Schools, and Catholic High School for Boys in Little Rock. He graduated from Catholic High in 1977.

On May 20, 2000, Tom married the love of his life, Karen Ann Skaggs (nee’ Johnston). He worked as a Wal-Mart associate for most of his adult life. One of Tom’s pleasures was playing video games and watching movies with Karen, especially anything with Sam Elliot. Tom and Karen actively participat­ed in American Living History Reenactmen­ts, which celebrate pioneer life skills. Rendezvous Camp participan­ts live as they had in the 1750-1840’s with no modern convenienc­es. During Rendezvous, Tom had an accurate and humorous nickname, “Hollow Leg.” Tom and Karen were huge cat lovers and found homes for many of them, usually at their own house. Additional­ly, Tom and Karen gave of their time and their friendship, and were always willing to help their neighbors. Tom was a great brother, husband, father, and friend to all who knew him.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend, Karen; his parents, Sue and “Snowball”; a sister, Sharron; and two brothers: Mike and Rusty. He is survived by his daughter, Christina; his two brothers: Joe (Ruth) and Ike (Cathy); his nephew, Andy, and numerous cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Fayettevil­le Animal Services or the charity of your choice.

The family of Thomas Luke Skaggs wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Washington Regional Medical Center, Springwood­s, Vantage Point, and Tom’s supervisor­s at WalMart for the care and considerat­ion they showed to Tom.
