ALMA 55, PEA RIDGE 38

Alma junior Joe Trusty threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns Friday to help power the Airedales over Pea Ridge in the 5A-West opener for both teams.

Alma (2-2, 1-0 5A-West) forced six turnovers, including five intercepti­ons. Senior Kevin Mills intercepte­d three straight Gavin Dixon passes in the last four minutes of the third quarter that led to a pair of Airedale scores.

Pea Ridge (0-4, 0-1) closed to within 34-30 with a third-quarter push. Joe Adams’ 11-yard touchdown run pulled the Blackhawks to within 28-22. Three minutes later, Dixon threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Will Anderson to pull the Blackhawks to within 34-30.

Brady Noyes caught a screen pass on Alma’s next possession and raced 46 yards to make it 41-30. Mills’ second intercepti­on led to Stacy’s 4-yard run and a 48-30 lead. Notes added 127 yards rushing.

Alma’s Conner Stacy caught six passes for 154 yards, all in the first half, including an 87-yard touchdown pass on Alma’s second possession. He also ran for a pair of touchdowns.

BriLee White put the finishing touches on the Airedales’ victory with an 81-yard TD reception with 11:33 left in the game that put the visitors ahead 55-30. The 55 points were the third most ever scored by the Airedales.

White caught four passes for 119 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown reception.

Alma’s 575 total yards of offense set a school record, breaking the old mark (553) set against Vilonia in 1998.

ELKINS 42, GRAVETTE 38

Da’shawn Chairs ran for five touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 3:17 remaining, as Elkins held off Gravette in a 4A-1 Conference game at Gravette.

Chairs scored from 8 yards out to put the Elks ahead 35-32 after Gravette had jumped out in front with a double pass as Karl Bontrager caught a lateral and threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Ellis with 4:35 remaining. Chairs then added a 4-yard touchdown run with 1:27 left to play and made it a 42-32 game.

Gravette added a 2-yard touchdown run by Kyler Austin with 28 seconds left, but Elkins recovered the onside kick to preserve the win.

Chairs also had touchdown runs of 59, 2 and 68 yards, while Austin scored on runs of 41 and 23 yards to give Gravette an early 12-0 cushion.

LAMAR 30, POTTSVILLE 28

Jimmy Balmer kicked a 37-yard field goal with 41 seconds remaining as Lamar slipped past Pottsville in a 4A-4 Conference game at Pottsville.

Pottsville led 28-21 after Landon Mahan’s 10-yard touchdown run with 4:13 remaining, but Lamar made it a one-point game when Landon Harrison scored from a yard out. The Warriors missed the twopoint conversion to take the lead, but Briar Vaughn gave Lamar another chance when he recovered a fumble at the Apaches 36 with 1:36 remaining.

Pottsville had a last-second chance to win the game, but Mahan’s 42-yard field goal try fell short at time expired.

BOONEVILLE 35, TWO RIVERS 6

Randon Ray bolted for touchdown runs of 46 and 60 yards as Booneville pounded Two Rivers in the 3A-4 Conference opener for both teams at Booneville.

Ray ran the ball only one other time and finished with 108 of the Bearcats’ 359 yards on the ground. Brooks Herrera added a 4-yard touchdown run, and Rylen Ray scored from 20-yards out to give Booneville a 28-0 cushion after one quarter.

The Bearcats added a 42-yard touchdown run by Dax Goff and a 75-yard touchdown run by Peyton Tatum to enjoy a 42-0 halftime cushion.

SHILOH CHRISTIAN 49, BERRYVILLE 0

Eli Wisdom threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another in the first quarter alone as Shiloh Christian blanked Berryville in the 4A-1 Conference opener for both teams.

Wisdom hit Ben Baker with a 12-yard touchdown pass, ran 67 yards for another score and fired a 54-yard touchdown pass to Kaden Henley to give the Saints the early 21-0 cushion. Bodie Neal added a 10-yard touchdown run before Wisdom threw his third touchdown pass, a 24-yarder to Kahlil Mobley in the second quarter.

Shiloh’s defense added another score before halftime on Cooper Hutchinson’s 40-yard intercepti­on return, then the Saints completed the scoring with Caleb Anderson’s 14-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Arellano.

OZARK 42, DARDANELLE 7

Eli Masingale and Landon Wright combined for five first-half touchdowns as Ozark rolled past Dardanelle in the 4A-4 Conference opener for both teams at Ozark.

Masingale had an 8-yard touchdown run, then Wright ran 78 yards for a score and threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Masingale as the Hillbillie­s jumped out to a 21-0 lead. Masingale added an 86yard touchdown run, then Wright scored from 26 yards out just before halftime for a 35-7 cushion.

Ozark forced the running clock in the third quarter when Britton Gage scored on a 5-yard touchdown run.

MENA 47, WALDRON 14

Lawrence Day caught a 68-yard touchdown pass on the game’s first offensive play, and Mena went on to knock off Waldron in a 4A-4 Conference game.

Caleb Peters added four more scores for the Bearcats in a variety of ways. He had a 27-yard touchdown run, caught touchdown passes of 16 and 38 yards and added a 75-yard kickoff return for another touchdown.

Day also added a 31-yard touchdown reception. Gabino Grano had a 15-yard touchdown run for Waldron.

CEDARVILLE 38, LAVACA 36

Darryl Kattich ran for 206 yards on 27 carries as Cedarville improved to 4-0 on the season.

Hayden Partain had 17 carries for 113 yards. Cody Dickens completed 5 of 8 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. He also had an intercepti­on on defense.

Bradley Perkins went 63 yards after catch for a touchdown.

Hackett 68, Lincoln 47

Ethan Slavens threw for six touchdowns to lead Hackett past Lincoln in a high-scoring game.

Slavens completed 28 of 36 passes for 522 yards and one intercepti­on. Peyton Hester caught 12 passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Kamron Elkins caught five passes for 126 yards.

Hayden Medlock, Cole Ketchum, and Dawsyn Clay also had touchdown catches for the Hornets.

Prairie Grove 40, Green Forest 21 Colin Faulk had seven carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns to lead a ground assault for Prairie Grove.

The Tigers piled up 385 total yards, including 264 on the ground. Conner Whetsell, Paytin Higgins, and Ethan Miller also contribute­d rushing touchdowns for Prairie Grove.

VILONIA 49, CLARKSVILL­E 7

Austin Myers threw four touchdown passes in the first half as unbeaten Vilonia opened 5A-West play with a rout at home over Clarksvill­e.

Myers hit Jamison Hinsley with a 20yard touchdown pass and added a trio of scoring tosses to Connor Ealy. Lane Hunter added touchdown runs of 3 and 22 yards, and Kannon Barlett had a 22-yard touchdown run to give the Eagles a 49-0 halftime cushion.

Clarksvill­e’s only score came late in the third quarter on Cash Walker’s 80-yard touchdown run.

PARIS 48, MAYFLOWER 7

Six players scored touchdowns in Paris’ victory over Mayflower.

Duke Walker had two touchdowns and over 100 yards rushing. Chase Watts threw for three touchdowns while completing all seven of his pass attempts. Blake Martines returned an intercepti­on for a touchdown for the Eagles.
