HUNTSVILLE — Dewey Dwain Spurlock,

82, of Huntsville, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayettevil­le. He was born Sunday, April 9, 1939, at Japton, to Ewell and Gwendolyn Mitchell Spurlock. Dewey married Lynette Jordan on Wednesday, April 9, 1966, at Japton, Arkansas, and together they were parents to two children.

He retired from the University of Arkansas where he was a carpenter for the physical plant. Dewey loved hunting, fishing, farming, and spending time with his grandkids.

Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Karen Spurlock Means. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lynette Spurlock, of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Daren and Leslie Spurlock of Farmington; his brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Pat

Spurlock of Japton; his former son-in-law, Doug Means, and wife Kerry, of Hampton; and his grandchild­ren, Gavin Spurlock, Cooper Spurlock, Cannon Spurlock, and Reece Spurlock of Farmington; Jenna Means of Searcy; and Kyler Means of Houston, Texas.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p. m., Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Brashears Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19, please practice social distancing and masks are required. Funeral services will be 2 p. m., Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Brashears Funeral Home with Steve Martindale officiatin­g. Pallbearer­s will be Jamie McChristia­n, Darby Spurlock, Scotty Jordan, Shane Jordan, Leon Jordan, and Herb Jordan. Interment will immediatel­y follow services at Groseclos Cemetery,

Japton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dewey’s memory may be made to Gospel Tracks Internatio­nal, 2125 N Center St., Fayettevil­le, Ark., 72701. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
