SWAC MEN JACKSON STATE 60, UAPB 47

PINE BLUFF – A rough shooting first half ruined the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s chances at snapping a long losing streak to Jackson State.

UAPB (5-19, 3-8 Southweste­rn Athletic Conference) hit 6 of 27 (22.2%) shots in the first 20 minutes and went through three separate stretches where it missed at least five consecutiv­e shots. During that same span, Jackson State (6-16, 4-7), made 15 of 28 (53.6%) baskets and held a 33-17 lead at halftime.

Terence Lewis, Jayveous McKinnis and Ken Evans all scored 14 points for Jackson State, which beat the Golden Lions for the ninth consecutiv­e time.

Morris had 16 points and Kshun Stokes had nine points for UAPB, which went 20-of-50 (40%) shooting. The Golden Lions were also pounded on the glass 40-23.

SUN BELT WOMEN ARKANSAS STATE 82, LOUISIANA-MONROE 60

Arkansas State University (11-12, 4-6 Sun Belt Conference) made the most of its extended weekend in Louisiana, snapping a five-game losing streak with a runaway victory over Louisiana-Monroe (4-19, 0-9) at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Lauryn Pendleton scored 17 of her team-high 19 points and Trinitee Jackson added a 12-point, 10-rebound effort in a game reschedule­d from Thursday after moisture on the court prevented the game from tipping off.

Jireh Washington made four three-pointers en route to 18 points — ASU shot 12 of 27 from beyond the arc. The Red Wolves capitalize­d on 16 ULM turnovers, turning them into 31 points.

SWAC WOMEN JACKSON STATE 69, UAPB 55

PINE BLUFF – Ameshya Williams-Holliday had 17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks as Jackson State roared back from a halftime deficit to pick up a road win at H.O. Clemmons Arena and remain undefeated Southweste­rn Athletic Conference play.

Dayzsha Rogan scored 15 points and Ti’lan Boler added 14 points for the Tigers (13-6, 11-0), who were down 26- 24 at halftime before overtaking the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (10-11, 6-5) with a 45-29 second half. Daja Woodard also had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Zaay Green had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Kaila Walker ended with 15 points for UAPB, which played without its second and third-leading scorers in Khadijah Brown and Joyce Kennerson.
