CHARLESTON — Fern Grace Callan,

who resided in Charleston, Ark., died Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. She was born on December 12, 1936, in the Driggs Community, located south of Paris, Arkansas, in Logan County to the late Justin Adolphus Shelton and Helen (Boles) Shelton. She was 85 years old. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Fern was a retired dental assistant. For many years, she served on the Greenhurst Family Council, was a 1954 graduate of Paris High School and was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Charleston.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 8, at First United Methodist Church in Charleston, with Rev. Claire Caldwell officiatin­g. Visitation to follow after the service. Cremation and services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her husband of almost 66 years, Tom Callan; a son, Michael Callan and wife Leisha of Branch; a daughter, Kelly Rappeport and husband Steve of Fort Smith; a brother, Don Paul Shelton of Ventura, California; two grandchild­ren, Baylee Callan of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Erin Allison and husband Derick of Fort Smith; three great-grandchild­ren, Natalie, Winston, and Lincoln.
