AUSTIN — James McNerlin,

of Austin, Ark., left his earthly home for greener pastures on April 11, 2022. He was born May 23, 1940, in Booneville, Arkansas, to the late Tony and Ed na Stewart McN er lin. James proudly served his country in the United States Army and Air Force for 23 years before retiring honorably and returning to work in the Civil Service for another 20 years. James loved the Lord, life and being outdoors. He treasured time with his family, friends, and cows. The cows were given very original and sometimes funny names by one of his many grandchild­ren who all looked forward to their turns to name the calves. James is survived by the love of his life of 39 years, Velma; two children, James E. McNerlin (Linda) of Malvern, Arkansas, and Teresa Armer (Jay) of Spotsylvan­ia, Virginia; one brother, Don McNerlin (Mary) of Atascadero, California, nine grandchild­ren and several great- grandchild­ren.

James has chosen cremation for his earthly remains and no funeral service will be held. A gathering with the family, friends and loved ones will be Friday, April 15, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. For more informatio­n, please call Caitlin Armer at 803-372-3080.
