CENTERTON — George Michael Undernehr,

-

72, of Centerton, passed away April 14, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born February 17, 1950, in Bentonville, Ark., the son of Edward LeRoy and Georgia Alene Hedrick Undernehr.

George graduated from Rogers High School in 1968, where he played on the tennis team. Prior to graduating from the University of Arkansas and beginning his surveying career, he served in the United States Army as a combat Infantryman. After being introduced to each other by his sister, Kathy, George and Robyn Lynn Calhoun were married on April 24, 1978, and spent nearly 22 years making memories, working, traveling to visit family, and raising four children. George was self-employed for more than 40 years as a Professional Land Surveyor and considered himself to have the best crew around: his children, and, eventually, even grandchildren.

George enjoyed tennis and cycling - he taught all his children to play tennis and looked forward to family bike rides around town.

George loved baseball; as a youth, he spent many summers playing with his brothers. He shared that love with his wife and children, often watching baseball on TV, listening to Razorback baseball on the radio and playing catch in the yard. In fact, no matter the sport (baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, gymnastics, dance or football), George rarely missed an event where his children or grandchildren were playing; even in later years, tuning in to watch out-of-state games via livestream.

As a grandfather, George loved nothing better than spending time with his grandkids; during the school year, he had a weekly after-school date with Xander and Berkeley, where they would grab a meal and hang out; he always jumped at the opportunity to visit the park with Juniper and Eleanor; and he loved to start his days with breakfast with Maddax and Maisie.

In between surveying, George stayed busy with projects around the house - never letting a job go unfinished or improperly done. He was a lifelong learner, keeping up with his surveying continuing education even in the immediate recent weeks; he was nearly fluent in Spanish, quite comfortable with the German language, and spent recent years studying Hebrew. George would not pass up an opportunity to pull out his surveying equipment to share a closer look at a summer meteor shower, Halley’s Comet or any other celestial event. Notably, a passion was genealogy, and he was able to trace his family and Robyn’s family through 12 generations. He documented this detail for each child, along with commentary from himself or ancestors that was recorded via wills and last statements dating back to the 1600s.

George was endlessly patient, loyal and dependable, thoughtful, kind and had the most well-timed wit that kept you on your toes.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Robyn Lynn Calhoun Undernehr; his parents; siblings, Jim, Ralph, Marvin, Tom, Kathy; and his son-in-law, Roger Cravens.

He is survived by his children, Stormey Jean Collins (John), Cali Anne Cravens ( Roger), Zebulun Martin Undernehr ( Casey), all of Bentonville, Ark., and Elijah Wolf Undernehr (Rebecca) of Tulsa, Okla.; siblings, Ray Undernehr and Hilda Upton; six grandchildren: Xander Collins, Berkeley Collins, Eleanor Undernehr, Juniper Undernehr, Maddax Cravens, Maisie Cravens; and multiple nieces and nephews and their children.

Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Benton County Funeral Home, 306, N. 4th, Rogers. Online condolences may be made at: www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.
