The Bobcats set a school record for most runs in a conference game Saturday afternoon, walloping the Trojans in San Marcos, Texas.

Texas State (31-9, 14-3 Sun Belt Conference) put up all 30 of their runs before UALR (16-18, 6-10) scored. The Trojans posted three runs in the top of the eighth and another run in the ninth.

Bobcats shortstop Dalton Shuffield had five of his team’s 21 hits, finishing with 4 runs, 3 RBI, 2 doubles and a triple. Eleven Texas State players registered a hit, including right fielder John Wuthrich, who had a three-run homer in the first and later added a solo home run.

UALR right fielder Noah Dickerson went 2 of 4 and Little Rock native Andrew Pickering hit a three-run home run for the Trojans.

TROY 6-3, ARKANSAS STATE 1-4

Arkansas State (9-27, 4-13 Sun Belt Conference) drew back-to-back bases-loaded walks in the bottom of the 10th inning to salvage a doubleheader split with Troy on Saturday at Jonesboro.

Troy (24-3, 10-7) took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 1oth when Clay Stearns scored an ASU error. But the Trojans never recorded an out in the bottom of the 10th. Grayson Stewart walked Wil French and Jared Toler before Bay Witcher came on in relief. Garrett Olson was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Then Ben Klutts walked to tie the game and Brandon Hager grew the game-winning walk.

In the first game, Troy’s Brady Fuller allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 7 innings to earn the victory.

ASUN BELLARMINE 10-5, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 5-10

The Bears secured a sixth straight series victory during Saturday’s doubleheader at Bear Stadium in Conway.

After the Knights dominated the opener with a season-high 20 hits, UCA (18-20, 11-10 ASUN Conference) jumped on top of Bellarmine (8-31, 6-12) with five runs in the first four innings of Game 2.

Hunter Hicks hit a three-run home run as part of a four-run sixth that gave the Bears a 8-2 advantage. On the day, Hicks went 4 of 7 with 7 RBI and 4 runs, and second baseman Tanner Leonard went 3 of 4 with 2 doubles and 3 runs in the series finale.

Sophomore Trent Gregson earned a win in Game 2, relieving Cade Fenton and closing things out with five innings of four-hit, three-run ball.

SWAC PRAIRIE VIEW A&M 9, UAPB 7 (10)

Brayden Johnson scored on Alex Martinez’s single in the bottom of the 10th inning to propel Prairie View A&M (23-18, 13-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference) to a comeback victory at Tankersley Field in Prairie View, Texas.

The game-winning hit capped a stirring rally for the Panthers, who trailed 6-3 after six innings. But Prairie View A&M, which has beaten UAPB (8-25, 5-11) six times this season, scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game, then pushed across three more runs in the eighth to grab a 9-6 lead.

The Golden Lions rallied with a three-run rally in the ninth, with two coming with the bases loaded, to again knot the game until the Panthers won Martinez’s two-out single.

Zach Trevino had three hits, while Martinez finished with three RBI for Prairie View A&M. Carlos Rodriguez-Velez had three hits and both Aidan Martinez and Andre Greene each drove in two runs for UAPB.
