DELANEY — Gerald Loyd Duncan,

-

age 84, of Delaney, Ark., passed from this life Wednesday, April 27, 2022. He was born October 10, 1937, in Elkins, Ark., a son of the late Otto Duncan and Martha Sisemore Duncan. Also preceding him in death was his spouse, Betty Rose Duncan and a granddaughter, Erin Duncan. Gerald was a member of Crystal Hills Family Fellowship and a retired painting contractor and cattle farmer.

Gerald Duncan (Hoss) as he was called by many of his friends was proud of the fact that he worked on several major businesses in Northwest Arkansas when they were initially constructed or being remodeled in the 1970’s. Businesses like the Northwest Arkansas Mall, Hospitals in Fayetteville AR., Rogers, AR., and Gravette, AR., and buildings at the University of Arkansas just to name a few. Gerald also loved to play and sing country and western music and was especially proud of his weekly radio show in California at the tender age of 15 years. One of his band members actually went on to become Merle Haggard’s steel guitarist. He loved and cherished his family and wanted a better life for them than he had experienced growing up himself. Gerald did his best to set an example for his children when it came to work ethic, treating people with respect and love of family. Nothing displayed his family commitment more than when Gerald cared for his wife of 65 years for over three years after she had been diagnosed with Dementia and Parkinson’s. Finally, Gerald considered himself, and most would agree, the best tomato grower in Madison Co. In retirement, tomato growing was an enjoyable hobby for him and he used a lot of self-taught science in his growing process. He was always after the largest and best tasting tomatoes around and more times than not he achieved this. Survivors are his children, Gerald W. Duncan (Paulette) of Bella Vista, AR, Tamara Greene of Fayetteville, AR, Tommy Duncan (Kim) of Delaney, AR; his grandchildren, Dustin Duncan, Cody Duncan, Connor Greene, Berkley Greene, Caden Duncan, and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 30, at Crystal Hills Family Fellowship in Elkins with Rev. Jasper Hankins officiating. Burial is in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Crosses by Nelson Berna Funeral Home of Fayetteville. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 29, at Nelson Berna Funeral Home.
