PREP BASEBALL BENTONVILL­E WEST 2, BENTONVILL­E 1

Pitching was a premium for both teams on Tuesday with West’s duo of Landon Grigg and Aaron Arnold combining on a one-hitter in a big 6A-West clash.

Grigg went 5.1 innings for the Wolverines and allowed just one hit with seven strikeouts to earn the win. Arnold went the final 1.2 innings and did not allow a hit with three strikeouts to lock down the save.

West (6-7) grabbed a 2-0 lead through three innings and held on from here as Bentonvill­e’s Zac Sohosky was dominant as well, allowing five hits with 11 strikeouts.

West scored in the bottom of the first as Ty Durham led off with a single and worked his way around to score in Cole Kitchens’ RBI double. The Wolverines scored another run in the third as Hunter Guill singled with one out and scored on Kitchens’ RBI single for the 2-0 lead.

Bentonvill­e (5-8) got on the board in the sixth inning when Luke Crumpler led off with a double to center. He advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a groundout to make it a one-run game.

In the seventh Arnold issued a one-out walk but limited the damage with a game-ending strikeout.

ROGERS HERITAGE 4, ROGERS 1 (9)

One pitch was all it took for the War Eagles to knock off their crosstown rivals on Tuesday, but that one pitch was a three-run walk-off home run by Quentin Edwards in the bottom of the ninth inning.

In a 1-1 tie, Bennett Crafton and Michael Johannsen drew two-out walks in the ninth for Heritage (6-7), bringing Edwards to the plate. On the first pitch of the at-bat, Edwards launched a shot to deep left for a three-run homer that set off a huge celebratio­n for the War Eagles.

Coleman Macrea went all nine innings for Heritage to lock down the win, allowing just two hits with nine strikeouts. Ty Anderson went 5.1 innings for Rogers, which suffered its first loss in conference play and Josh Lawing went 3.1 innings.

Crafton and Tyler Jouett were both 2-for-4 for Heritage.

The win clinched a 6A state tournament berth for the War Eagles. Rogers (12-1), the defending 6A state champions had already locked up the conference championsh­ip and top seed from the West.

FS SOUTHSIDE 2, SPRINGDALE 0

Three Mavericks pitchers combined on a four-hitter as the Mavericks locked down a 6A state tournament berth with a narrow win.

David Sorg went 3.2 innings and allowed four hits. Bennett Chastain and Bailey Mattingly went 3.1 combined innings of no-hit pitching for Southside (6-7).

Springdale’s Colton Kelley went 4.2 innings and allowed just three hits and Yadiel Canales went 2.1 innings and did not allow a hit for the Bulldogs (4-9).

SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 4, FAYETTEVIL­LE 2

The Wildcats locked down the No. 2 seed from the 6A-West for next week’s 6A state tournament by scoring all of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Har-Ber (9-4) managed just three hits with Dylan Hughes delivering the big blow with a two-run double in the fourth.

Cooper Dossett went 6 innings to earn the win for the Wildcats with 14 strikeouts and no walks while allowing just three hits. Tyler Ridley went the final inning for Har-Ber.

Landon Holzhauer and Eli Power each belted doubles for the Bulldogs (4-9).

PREP SOFTBALL ROGERS 7, SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 0

It was perfection for sophomore Ava Johnson on Tuesday as the left-hander mowed down Har-Ber in an 81-pitch perfect game.

Johnson struck out 16 in the masterpiec­e for the Lady Mounties (17-4, 11-2 6A-West). Of the 81 pitches she windmilled home, 61 were strikes. The only baserunner for Har-Ber reached on an error.

The Lady Mounties provided Johnson all the run support she would need in the first inning, scoring three runs. Rogers tacked on three more runs in the second to secure its spot as the No. 2 seed for next week’s 6A state tournament, which it will host along with Heritage.

Sydney Smith was 3-for-3 to lead the Rogers offense with a pair of RBIs. Kylee Ward, Makenzie Fithian and Johnson all belted doubles for the Lady Mounties, who will host Heritage on Thursday in the regular season finale.

Har-Ber (6-7) will close the regular season at Fort Smith Southside on Thursday.

BENTONVILL­E 18, SPRINGDALE 0

The Lady Tigers needed just three innings to roll over Springdale on Tuesday.

Bentonvill­e (20-3, 13-0) blasted three home runs with Trista Peterson, Sydney Rhuda and Ryann Sanders all going deep in the win. Hallie Robison, Alleyna Rushing and Savanna Schenkel added doubles for Bentonvill­e.

Peterson picked up the win in the circle, allowing just one hit with four strikeouts.

Tori Hennarichs had Springdale’s only hit.

ROGERS HERITAGE 14, FAYETTEVIL­LE 3

The Lady War Eagles (16-11, 8-5) pounded out 15 hits including three home runs in a run-rule win against Fayettevil­le on Tuesday. Kelsey Camp, Elle Riendeau and Ava DeFrates all hit homers for Heritage, and Anna Lee belted a pair of doubles and drove in four runs. Riendeau and Camp each drove in three runs.

Riendeau earned the win in the circle. Allie Bowerman had three hits including a double for the Lady Bulldogs.

BENTONVILL­E WEST 8, FS SOUTHSIDE 0

Olivia Thornton homered and drove in three runs to spark the Lady Wolverines on Tuesday.

Thornton was 3-for-4 to power West’s 13hit attack.

Ciera Cravens was 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs and also earned the win in the circle with five strikeouts. Laynee Tapp and Stephanie Crittenden each had two hits for West (16-9, 9-4).

Abby Estep was 2-for-4 to lead the Lady Mavericks and Reese Robinson added a double.

CABOT 14, FS NORTHSIDE 3

The Lady Panthers took control in the middle innings and run-ruled the Lady Bears in 6A-Central action.

Cabot led 2-0 after three innings before putting up seven runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth.

Addison Foster homered for Northside.

PREP SOCCER Girls BENTONVILL­E 4, SPRINGDALE 0

The Lady Tigers claimed a shutout in 6A-West action on Tuesday.

Kayla Hurley secured a hat trick with three goals for Bentonvill­e and Abbi Armstrong added another goal for the Lady Tigers.
