When it comes to buying meat, you have two choices: the supermarket or a butcher. And although butchers aren’t prevalent as they once were, you can still find a great one in Fayetteville—Richard’s Country Meat Market. For the past 30 years, they’ve been offering the best selection of prime cuts of beef, pork, chicken, lamb, veal, sausage, seafood and more. A trip to Richard’s iconic butcher counter will make you never want to buy supermarket meat and seafood again.

There’s no comparison when it comes to the quality you’ll find at Richard’s. Instead of shrink-wrapped packages, you get fresh, high quality meat, cut to order, raised ethically, and often sourced locally. You’ll find your standard cuts, plus a wide range of items you just won’t find at the supermarket.

“We pride ourselves in having top-choice and prime-rated meat,” says owner Richard McGinnis of his steaks. “But it’s really our customer service and quality that separates us from the competition.”

Richards’ helpful staff can help you choose just the right cuts and selections in exactly the quantity you need (less waste!) and they’ll even help you figure that out.

How much do I need for my barbecue? What’s the difference between these cuts? How should I cook this? Whether it’s a custom cut, cooking tips or a special order, Richard’s knowledgeable experts will do what it takes to make your meals memorable and delicious, and save you money in the long run by helping you purchase exactly the quantity you need and helping you to cook it perfectly.

Owner Richard McGinnis has dedicated his adult life to providing superior meats and customer service. He started young in the food industry, and now has more than forty-five years of experience from which he offers sage advice to those seeking the finest ingredients, recipes, and cooking techniques. The original Country Time Meat Shoppe opened in Fayetteville in the 1980s. In 1997, Richard made it his own family business, renaming it Richard’s Country Meat Market.

Amazing selection

Peruse the large glass cases and you’ll discover a truly impressive array of prime cuts of beef, pork and chicken, along with lamb, veal and more. There are endless varieties of Italian sausage, bratwurst, thick-sliced bacon and more… all ready to turn into one-of-a-kind meals.

Richard’s can meet your seafood needs as well, with 8-12 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available on any given day, along with an impressive selection of frozen fish. They also have live crawfish available right now!

Richard’s also has the sort of old-fashioned country meat market and deli items that you won’t find anywhere else. Headcheese? Pickle and pimento loaf? Beef tongue, bone marrow or pork liver? They’ve got those, and more.

Add to that quail, duck, gator tail meat, lamb and veal…plus soup bones, for all your soup creations (and maybe even for your furry friends!)

The best sellers are their seasoned burgers made from fresh-ground beef, including a Bison Burger from locally raised buffalo, and the classic baconwrapped tenderloin filet. All ready for your backyard barbecue.

Simplify meal-planning

Richard’s lets you stock up and decrease your shopping trips by offering meat bundles ready for your freezer.

“We’ve been selling a lot of our freezer bundles because people want to load up,” owner Richard McGinnis said. “We have five different bundles to chose from: Variety Bundle, Steak Bundle, Smoker Bundle, Deluxe Bundle and Richard’s special, plus a 40 lb. frozen pack of ground beef. The prices for the bundles vary week to week ”

Curbside service available

Customers can come into the store but the market plans to continue to offer curbside service, a safer and great timesaving option.

“Curbside isn’t going away,” Richard explained. “We’ve found that our customers really like the convenience. They can still come inside if they want to. But we also know that some of our customers would rather have the option.”

Customers can call to place an order ahead of time: 479-443-0000, and give their credit card. The order will be prepared and when the customer drives up, they call another number: 479-5211464, and their order will be brought out to them. Of course they can also order ahead to save time and come inside to pay when they arrive or come in and look through the case and select their meats like always.

Food to go

If you don’t want to do all the work yourself, Richard’s offers delicious frozen foods to go, like mouthwatering lasagna and manicotti. They also feature 12 varieties of homemade soup in quart containers in the freezer, including vegetable beef, chicken noodle, lobster bisque and their gumbos and homemade chili. The shop’s homemade recipes use their premium cuts of beef, pork, chicken, lamb and veal to keep you coming back for more.

Finally, you couldn’t talk about Richard’s Country Meat market without giving a nod to their homemade seasonings – at least 20 varieties of seasonings including barbecue, steak rubs and more.

And to top off a perfect meal, they even offer mouthwatering pies, desserts and cookies!

Richard’s Country Meat Market is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and closed Sunday and Monday. For more information, call (479) 443-0000 or visit richardscountrymeatmarket.com.
