SPRINGDALE — Andrew Floyd Penzo,

age 91, of Springdale, died Friday, June 24, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 20, 1930, in St. Louis, Mo., to Andrew and Flora (Bariola) Penzo.

Andrew served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier Kearsarge. He retired from Jones Truck Lines after 32 years of service, where he held various positions including Branch Terminal Manager for both Springfiel­d, Mo., and Springdale locations, and Regional Manager over parts of Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Tontitown, where he served on the Finance Committee and the Knights of Columbus as Grand Knight and State District Deputy. Andrew also served on the Tontitown Planning Committee and City Council.

Andrew was a 1951 graduate of Springdale High School. He loved sports especially football. In high school he lettered in football and track, earning All State Track honors. He then attended Lamar Junior College in Lamar, Colorado on a football scholarshi­p. He later attended the University of Arkansas.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing and gardening. The beautiful tomatoes and pumpkins he raised and sold at the Fayettevil­le Farmers Market awarded him with multiple Top Seller awards. Andrew was happiest when surrounded by his family who will always cherish memories of family Jeep rides, shooting fireworks on the Fourth of July, picking pumpkins from the garden and trips to the beach in Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Lu Ellen Weiss and Claudine Pianalto.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Peggy Jo ( Pendegraft) Penzo; four children, Phillip Penzo and wife Belinda of Springdale, Michael Penzo and wife Rebecca of Stafford, Va., Andrea Hale and husband Don of El Dorado, Toni Been and husband Dennis of Fayettevil­le; 10 grandchild­ren, Jason Penzo, Amanda Penzo Corcoran, Lauren Hale Hall, Alexandra Hale Johnston, Clark Hale, Jackson Been, Madalyne Been, Caroline Been, Courtney Penzo Moore, Heather Penzo; five great-grandchild­ren, Flora Penzo, Gia Penzo, Rosemary Hale, Kate Johnston, Emily Johnston; and one brother, Celester “Husk” Penzo.

A Rosary will be at 10 a.m., visitation at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Tontitown. Interment with military honors will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, at St. Joseph Cemetery.
