Summer jobs for teens are still out there

-

With restaurants, retailers, and camps opening back up, there is work out there for teens and students.

Neighborhood Yard Work

It’s a classic summer job and there’s a reason for that. Many homeowners prefer to have a little landscaping help from a neighbor instead of hiring a company. Mowing lawns, weeding gardens, and watering are all good options … and can take a kid through the fall if they a little bit on the weekends after school starts. Teenagers can make and circulate fliers, text with friends and relatives, and post on social media channels.

This kind of work can also lead to other odd jobs like garden cleanouts in the fall, window washing, small home repairs, grocery runs, and more. If your teenager can do a good job and stay creative, there are great options that begin here.

Transcription

If you’ve got a computer and an internet connection, you could work for a transcription company. Sites such as Transcribe Me offer ways to make a little cash on the side by transcribing video and audio in any of their many languages. Additionally, this kind of job can carry through a school year, too, and isn’t tied to a particular season.

Write for a Content Mill

Here’s a great virtual job opportunity for teens who can write. Sites such as Content Gather, allow you to blog for companies and get paid. This is another flexible job where you decide the hours and the effort. This list of content mills will get you started.

Data Entry

For those teens who like to listen to music or podcasts while they work, data entry might be a good way to make some quick cash this summer. This type of job usually involves creating lists or spreadsheets of data on your computer. It’s work which only requires some typing skills, so it’s not too strenuous. Check out this list of companies.

Customer Service

Some companies, such as U-Haul, hire work-from-home sales representatives and administrative assistants as young as 16. If you have a computer and a headset, this could be a great gig for you.

The bottom line is there are lots of ways for teenagers and young adults to make money. And that income doesn’t have to only be in the summer. With remote Internet-based work, there are options out there.

And getting in the workforce early, can help kids make good professional connections, build work ethic, and gain important experience.
