FAYETTEVIL­LE — Robert Joseph “Bob” Hartney,

age 79, of Fayettevil­le, Ark ., was freed from this life Thursday, September 22, 2022. He was born January 13, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late Robert Charles Hartney and Dorothy Shea Hartney.

Bob was retired from the U.S. Postal Service( Texas and Arkansas). Prior to the Postal Service, he worked with the Xerox Corporatio­n in Illinois and Texas. He canoed the Texas rivers where he met his wife, Nancy. Together they shared camping, horseback riding, travel, canoeing, and downhill snow skiing. He rode his Harley with buddies to biker rallies and various locations in the western U.S. A kind, gentleman, known among his community as a good feller always sporting a smile.

Survivors are his wife, Nancy Almand Hartney; his children, Sean Hartney (Erin), Timothy Hartney, Christa Beristain (John); a sister, Donna Buchanan; brother James Hartney, sister, Deborah McEllin ( Robert); a granddaugh­ter, Miranda Hartney; and sister- in- law Deborah Hartney, wife of late brother Michael.

Other family members preceding Bob in death include sister Mary Ann Martino ( John); sister Patricia Wolfram (James); and grandson, Quinlan Hartney.

Cremation arrangemen­ts are by Nelson Berna Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to KUAF 91.3 National Public Radio, 9 School Street; Fayettevil­le Public Library, 401 W. Mountain; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn., or a charity of choice.
