FAYETTEVIL­LE — Arlie L. Staggs

went to Heaven in the presence of Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 29, 2022 , surrounded by his family at Willard Walker Hospice.

Every person who knew him, described him as such a sweet, kind, and godly man. Arlie had the biggest heart for everyone but especially his entire extended family.

Arlie was born in Lockesburg, Ark., on May 15, 1930.

He served as Staff Sargent in the USAF Korean War. He attended LeTourneau University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineerin­g. Arlie worked for 30 years with SWEPCO until retiring to be a contractor at Arkansas One Nuclear Plant in Russellvil­le, Ark., Callaway Nuclear in Fulton, Mo., and Comanche Peak Nuclear in Glen Rose, Texas, where he made many life-long friendship­s.

Arlie married the love of his life, Sybil Arlene Godwin Staggs, September 2, 1952.

He is preceded in death by Sybil; his mother, Mildred Robbins Staggs; his father, Harold Staggs; and only brother, Lendel Staggs, all of Lockesburg, Ark.

Arlie and Sybil are survived by two daughters, Bev Staggs Worley (Kevin) and Lisa Staggs Gaddy of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; five grandchild­ren, Michael Gaddy (Amy) of Fayettevil­le, Ark., Drew Gaddy of Durango, Colo., Ashton Worley Wells (Andy) of Conway, Ark., Tyler Gaddy (Katherine), and Kolton Staggs Worley; five great-grandchild­ren, Lucy, Kaden, Anna, Ruby, and Sagely.

Arlie was deacon of University Baptist Church for 50-plus years lovingly serving in the Widow ministry, Childrens’ ministry events and especially Vacation Bible School. He was a member of Gideon’s Bible Society. Arlie served well into his 80s, delivering Meals on Wheels. Making life-long friends everywhere he resided, he was

always the best neighbor and “adopted” grandfathe­r to so many families, He and Sybil loved traveling the U.S. and Canada with cousins. As an amateur photograph­er, he took thousands of wonderful photos over the years

Visitation will be held at University Baptist Church under the care of Beard’s Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 3, 2022, beginning at 2 p.m. with a celebratio­n of life following at 3 p.m.

Visitation will also be held in DeQueen, Ark., at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 2-4 p.m. with interment following at Oddfellows Cemetery, Lockesburg, Ark. Condolence­s at www.beardsfune­ralchapel.com
