■ Family: Father to brilliant musician Jacob (27) and fantastic actor Peyton (23), the two greatest sons in the history of sons, and Sir Miles Jameson, an 8-year-old brindle whippet mix who is 40 solid pounds of utter, intense, undying affection.

■ My favorite movie is currently: A tie between “Almost Famous,” “Run Lola Run” and “Frank.”

■ The core element of a good leader is: Understanding that credit for a victory is infinitely divisible.

■ My personal motto is: “Let’s give people the chance to do the right thing.”

■ When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up to be: Encyclopedia Brown.

■ The one thing I know to be true about all people is: Everyone thinks they’re the “good guy” in the story. Understanding that fact makes people a lot easier to understand.

■ If I could have dinner with anyone, I’d invite: The whole family over a long, rowdy, never-ending fish dinner with three Hookses who left us way too soon: grandfather Bill Hooks, grandmother Rita Hooks and cousin Nathan Hooks. Utter characters all, hilarious down to the very bone and every one of them beloved to this day.

■ The best advice I ever got: Wasn’t literally spoken as much as shown by example. From my mother [Carole George]: The utter importance of love and forgiveness. From my father [Steve Hooks]: Work is an important part of life, but it’s not even close to the most important part.

■ My idea of a perfect Saturday must include:

A long hike with Miles in some far-flung nowhere, hours of crate digging at a record shop and breakfast food with someone lovely.

■ My hidden talent is: When you’re talking to me, I’m silently counting the letters in your words and arranging them into neat groups of five. Still listening, though, I promise.

■ One thing I’d change about myself, if I could, is: I probably should’ve just gone ahead and said yes to the Peace Corps way back when.

■ A personal mountain I have yet to climb is: Learning French.

■ One word to describe me: Intentional.
