FAYETTEVILLE — Linda Ragan Ranniger
died February 15, 2023, from complications of multiple sclerosis. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard L. ( Dick) Ranniger of Fayetteville, Ark., and a son, Ragan Ranniger of Elkins, Ark.
Mrs. Ranniger was born June 28, 1947, in Pine Bluff, Ark., the daughter of the late John and Gerri Ragan. She graduated with honors from Pine Bluff high school, and attended what is now the University of Central Arkansas.
Her professional career included positions as an Underwriter Assistant at UMIC Municipal Bond Brokers, Memphis, Tenn., and A. S. Hart Municipal Bond Brokers, Houston, Texas, Executive Assistant to the CFO of Brady Motor Freight, Des Moines, Iowa, and Executive Assistant to the CEO and Board of Directors of Interstate Assurance Corporation, Des Moines, Iowa, a major provider of specialized insurance.
In 1973 Mrs. Ranniger gave birth to her son, Ragan, and left her professional career to be a stay-at-home Mom. In 1974, Mrs. Ranniger moved with her family to Atlanta, Ga., where she became active in several charitable and professional organizations.
In 1983, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She remained active in her activities. She vacationed with her family to Hawaii and the Caribbean. She also accompanied her husband on business trips to major cities in the U.S. and Europe. She was able to fulfill a lifelong dream by visiting the Palace of Versailles in France.
In 1988 she and her family moved to Fayetteville, Ark. Despite her handicap, she was active in her church, Sequoyah UMC. In 2013 multiple sclerosis caused her to be confined to bed where she was cared for by her husband until her death.
Mrs. Ranniger was energetic and enthusiastic who loved to travel, enjoyed laughing and interacting with friends, good food and restaurants. She was a good friend, a good mother, and a wonderful wife. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial services will be a private celebration of her life. She may be honored by volunteering or contributing in her name to a local multiple sclerosis organization.
