81, of Springdale passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayettevil­le. She was born October 26, 1941, to William J. Gray and Idell R. (Wright) Gray in Emporia, Kan. Her father was the County sheriff and a small-town retailer in Lyndon, Kan. Her mother was an elected County Clerk and Register of Deeds in Osage County, Kan. Deanna graduated from Lyndon High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Kansas in 1965. She also graduated from Washburn University with a Master of Science in Education in 1970. She married Dr. James W. Moore on December 31, 1961. They moved to Springdale in 1971.

She was a first grade teacher at Tontitown Elementary and Walker Elementary in Springdale Public Schools for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Springdale for over 50 years and during many of those years, she ran the nursery. She was also president and member of UMW, United Methodist Women at the church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Orinne Wiley of Kansas, daughter Kathleen Annette Moore, and her husband, Dr. James W. Moore.

The surviving children are three sons, Rodger Moore of Kentucky, Brian Moore of Springdale, and Monte Moore and wife Shelley of Bentonvill­e; and nine grandchild­ren: Aidan, Anna, Liam, Ryan, Cadence, Chandler, Lexie, Carter, and Daniel. She also has two great-grandchild­ren, Liam and Jameson. Her great friends Barbara LaMastus, Dottie Blythe, and members of her book club and church were extremely important in her life. Laura Scirto, a close friend but more like her daughter, was also someone she valued deeply in her time.

Deanna was an avid Arkansas Razorback and Kansas Jayhawk basketball and football fan. She loved playing handbells in the church handbell choir, played the piano as a young girl in church services, was a spectacula­r seamstress, was a highly avid reader, and never met a thrift store she didn’t like. Her famous angel food birthday cakes were favorites among her children and grandchild­ren, and her cranberry sherbet was never left untouched at Thanksgivi­ng and Christmas dinners. She loved traveling in the RV with her husband, cruises to Alaska, and spending time with her grandchild­ren, great-Grandchild­ren, and her cats.

A memorial service will be Friday, February 24, 2023, at 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Springdale. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery in Springdale. A drop by visitation will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 12- 6 p. m., at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.
