SPRING DALE— Charlotte Lou Bryan,

age 87, of Spring dale, Ark ., passed away on March 12, 2023, in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born on February 9, 1936, in Seiling, Okla., to Ivan Jarnagin and Alba Barker Jarnagin. Charlotte graduated from Boise City High School in Boise City, Okla., and attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University for a semester before she married Hugh Smith.

She was an entrepreneur, owning and operating Mr. Burger from 1973 until 1997, and Ms. Charlotte’s Ice Cream Store, just across the parking lot, during that same time. Charlotte had spent the last several years working and visiting with patrons at The Gift House Antiques in Fayetteville.

In 2015, Charlotte married Harold Bryan, and they spent the last years traveling and enjoying time on the farm and the lake.

Charlotte loved entertaining her family and friends. She was an avid tole painter, spending a lot of time at local flea markets expanding on her craft. Charlotte was a woman that was strong in her faith. She loved to play cards and was a mean SkipBo player.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hugh Smith; daughter, Kathy Singleton; her parents, Ivan and Alba Jarnagin; and seven siblings.

Charlotte is survived by her husband, Harold Bryan; son, Steve Smith and wife Amy of Fayetteville; daughter, Lisa Bingham of Fayetteville; and grandchildren, Spencer Bingham, Bailey Woods, Sydnee Bingham, Kaylee Franklin, and Cody Smith. She is also survived by many stepchildren, step- grandchildren, step- great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other family members.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Washington Regional Hospice, 325 E.
