SOFTBALL BENTONVILL­E WEST 7, GRAVETTE 4

The Lady Wolverines pulled away from a 3-3 tie by scoring single runs over four consecutiv­e innings to hand Gravette its first loss of the season Monday.

West (4-2), rallied after giving up three runs in the first inning by scoring three runs of its own in the bottom half of the first. From there, the Lady Wolverines manufactur­ed the rest of their runs one at a time.

Olivia Nickson had a huge game for West at the plate to overcome a rocky outing in the circle. Nickson blasted a pair of home runs, including a three-run shot in the bottom of the first. She later added a solo homer for a four-RBI day.

Gravette (6-1) got to Nickson for three runs in the top of the first. Brynn Romine was hit by a pitch to open the game and Laney Chilton followed with an RBI double for a 1-0 lead. Three straight walks followed Chilton’s double and Drew Madison added an RBI single for the 3-0 lead.

Nickson tightened it up from there and went the distance to earn the win.

Stephanie Crittenden, Maddie Axe and Kaylee Parker all had RBI hits for West.

Trinity Burnett and Madison had two hits each for the Lady Lions.

FORT SMITH SOUTHSIDE 7, GREENWOOD 3

The Lady Mavericks struck for three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to knock off Greenwood in nonconfere­nce action.

Southside (4-6) trailed 3-0 into the top of the fifth before plating three runs to tie the game at 3-3. In the sixth, the Lady Mavs added three more runs for a 6-3 lead.

Laney Emmert was 3 for 4 for Southside and Nadrah Alaidi added a double. That was enough offense for Livi Prince, who pitched a complete game for the Lady Mavs.

Tori Howard homered for Greenwood (6-3) and Rylee Floyd added an RBI double.

FARMINGTON 21, BERRYVILLE 3

The Lady Cardinals trailed early, then unloaded a barrage of runs to claim a 4A-1 Conference run-rule road win on Monday.

Berryville scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Farmington (7-0) answered with 20 runs over the next three innings.

Katie Fleming homered and drove in two runs for the Lady Cardinals.

Reese Shirey, Morgan Uher, Amia Carr and Justine Davidson all had multiple hits and Shirey drove in three runs.

For Berryville, Kynadee Hopper was 2 for 3.

LINCOLN 14-10, FLIPPIN 0-2

The Lady Wolves swept Flippin in 3A-1 Conference action on Monday.

In the opener, Brinkley Moreton pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12 and was 3 for 3 at the plate with a home run, her seventh of the season. Addie Pershall was 2 for 4 with a double and four RBIs

In the second game, Amber Bryant spun a five-hitter and struck out 11 to lead the Lady Wolves. At the plate, Rylee Landrum was 3-for-5 with a double, and Moreton was 2 for 4 with a double, triple and two RBI. Bryant and Kristen Rhine had two hits each for Lincoln (10-7).

BASEBALL GREENLAND 9, LAVACA 3

Kade Gobel’s solo home run sparked.a six-run fifth inning and led Greenland to a victory over Lavaca. Gobel broke a 3-3 tie with his blast, while Hank Ramsey belted a two-run double during the outburst. Ramsey then scored the Pirates’ final run on a single by Aiden Parker.

Jack Stockton had three hits to lead a 13-hit attack for Greenland (6-4), while Ramsey had two doubles and three RBIs. Brandon Vaughn and Andrew McArdle each had two hits for the Pirates.

Carter Jackson threw five innings to pick up the win for Greenland.

HUNTSVILLE 17, NWA HORNETS 2

Mason Davidson’s grand slam capped a seven-run third inning and highlighte­d Huntsville’s nonconfere­nce victory at home.

The Eagles (9-4) scored six runs in the first, then added four in the second before their outburst. Kolby Phillips had three hits and drove in three runs in Huntsville’s 11-hit attack, while Amos Mayes had three hits.
