BENTONVILLE — Virginia Spackman King,
a beloved resident of Bentonville, Ark., was born on November 5, 1944, in Wilmington, Del., and peacefully passed away on August 19, 2023, in Rogers, Ark.
God blessed her with many gifts, but most certainly with the clear purpose to love others with focused energy and thoughtful pursuit to make all who love her feel loved in return. Virginia’s unfailing faith guided her through life. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and dedication that touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born to Thomas and Margaret Baker Spackman, Virginia’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of curiosity and a heart full of compassion. Her upbringing instilled in her a strong sense of family values and the importance of forging meaningful connections.
Virginia’s passion for the outdoors was evident from an early age. She found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was biking along scenic trails, taking leisurely walks to soak in the beauty of nature, or immersing herself in creative crafting projects that reflected her artistic spirit. She loved the Buffalo River and the years she spent living in Jasper, Ark.
With a heart as big as her smile, Virginia dedicated herself to the field of education. As a GED teacher, she guided countless individuals on their paths toward self-improvement and personal growth. Her patient, encouraging approach inspired her students to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. She also spent a number of years working in the College of Engineering at the University of Arkansas. This afforded her the ability to continue to engage in the education field and meet a number of life-long friends.
She was a stroke survivor and spent the past two decades in several assisted living facilities across northwest Arkansas. She was always so appreciative of the amazing care and support she was afforded by all those she interacted with over the years. “Mrs. Virginia” had a unique ability of always lifting others up and putting a smile on their face.
Virginia’s family was the cornerstone of her life.
She leaves behind a rich legacy of love and devotion in her three children, Kris (Maud) King, Matt King, and Jasmine (Mike) Henson; her six grandchildren, Tate King, Hunter King, Emily King, Riley Henson, Austin Henson, and Leah Henson. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support served as a guiding light for them, shaping their character and aspirations.
