FAYETTEVILLE — Phyllis Anne “Cummins” Eddins,
age 87, of Fayetteville, passed from this life January 1, 2024, in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born March 16, 1936, in Steelville, Mo., to Roy and Anna Cummins. Phyllis started her education in Steelville, Mo., and then graduated from Mississippi College. She started work as the Youth Director and organist of the First Baptist Church in Muskogee, Okla.
Phyllis and Earl Eddins met at this church; he proposed on their second date, and were married 60+ years. Their marriage journey took them to St. Louis, Mo., Little Rock, Ark., Scottsdale, Ariz., Jackson, Miss., and then ultimately, Fayetteville, Ark.
Her Christian values influenced the work she did throughout her church and community. Once they moved to Fayetteville, Phyllis played the piano, organ, and sang in the choir at Rolling Hills Baptist Church. She was also a 50+ year honor roll member of the Chapter BH P.E.O. and served two terms as Chapter President. Her other community contributions included supporting the associations for the Washington Regional Medical Center (WRMC), Fayetteville Junior Civic League, and the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of NWA.
Phyllis was a member of Wauhillau Outing Club, where the Eddins family loved to share quality time with friends and extended family. Some of her other pastimes included playing tennis and bridge with close friends.
Phyllis is survived by her two sons: David Eddins and his wife, Kim, and Brad Eddins and his wife, Elizabeth Foster; two granddaughters: Katherine Eddins and Elena Foster.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Eddins in 2020; her parents, sister, Gayle Alexander; and brother, William Cummins.
