HUNTSVILLE — John Eugene Mitchell,
66, of Huntsville, Ark., passed away December 29, 2023, in his home.
Johnny was born October 21, 1957, in Tulsa, Okla., to Bill (Frank William) Mitchell and Joan Fields Mitchell. He was raised in Fayetteville, Ark., where he attended high school. While his career interest took him in many directions, he found his work home at Tyson Foods for the past 19 years.
John was well known for his snazzy attire, sporting casual or dress overalls at every event. He had a deep passion for the great outdoors. He loved hunting deer with his brother, David; he always got the bigger buck, you just had to ask him when David wasn’t around to find out! his summers were spent camping with his wife, family and friends. He often reminisced about his glory days of football in high school. You would see (and hear) him cheering his grandkids on every chance he got!
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill; his sister, Teresa; and all paternal and maternal grandparents.
His survivors include his wife of 25 years, Dianna Reeves Mitchell; his mother, Joan Mitchell of Bentonville, Ark.; his children, Angie (Chris) Wray of Tulsa, Okla.; Micheal (Amanda) Eaton of Huntsville, Ark.; John Carter of Springdale, Ark.; Casey Thomas of Huntsville, Ark.; Ciara Williams of Bentonville, Ark.; Che (Lorenzo) Alvarado of Bardstown, Ky.; Tricia (Russell) Davis of Rogers, Ark.; Frank Mitchell of Springfield, Mo.; his grandchildren: Nikkolas, Clutch, Tori, Chaisy, Nataly, Riley,
Jillian, Oliver, Cory, Bella, Elena, Blaze, Otis, Rhett, and Tamron; his great-grandchildren, Amy, Jak, Rowan, and Charli; siblings: David (Vicki) Mitchell of West Fork, Ark.; Linda (Bill) Breedlove of Bentonville, Ark.
He will be forever missed by all those that knew and dearly loved him. He was a loving son, brother, husband, dad, hero and Papa.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 5, 2024, from 10-11 a.m. at Living Water Baptist Church. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2024, at Living Water Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Gabbard officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service of Huntsville.
