From the Chamber’s President/CEO
Hello friends… January was full of leadership programs and convening stakeholders from all over our community. The Chamber is often recognized for the big scissors and golden shovels in the newspaper celebrating new business or significant milestones of our community, but sometimes the most important work we do is behind the scenes or feels like planting seeds that may not bear fruit until some future date.
In the last few weeks we’ve had multiple conversations with childcare leaders to better understand the business opportunities and challenges they face on a day to day basis. Through panels with our Boone County Leadership Institute, roundtables at the Chamber Office, and with the OUR Educational Services Cooperative learning about the new LEADS pilot for early childhood - we believe by fostering partnerships among childcare providers we are working to ensure that the youngest members of our community receive the best possible care and education, setting the stage for a bright and promising future for Harrison’s next generation.
On March 1 Harrison High School and the Chamber are hosting our regional high schools to participate in a Regional Day of Opportunities. Close to 1,000 students will be visiting with 45+ businesses aimed at empowering high school students with insights into the myriad of opportunities available during and after their high school journey. We understand the importance of connecting our youth with local employers to bridge the gap between education and business.
Lastly, mark your calendars for the Chamber’s Annual Meeting on March 12, presented by Equity Bank where we will celebrate Harrison’s continued momentum. At the largest gathering of business and community leaders all year long, we’ll celebrate our annual award winners and our panelist will discuss why Harrison, Arkansas, remains an attractive destination for businesses looking to expand or establish roots.
