Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
Congratulations to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for 16 years of serving adults and promoting learning across the lifespan in Northwest Arkansas.
I'm proud that OLLI is part of the College of Education and Health Professions, where I'm in my second year as the dean. I enjoyed meeting many of you at the OLLI Holiday Brunch in December. OLLI's mission aligns perfectly with our WE CARE – Wellness and Education Commitment to Arkansas Excellence – strategic plan, which focuses on fostering a caring culture, advancing impactful research, and expanding service to Arkansas. OLLI's educational programs and the opportunities it provides to the community embody the priority of serving Arkansans. I love that our faculty members enjoy teaching courses and sharing their unique passions with OLLI members. Just last fall, Molly Harry, an assistant professor of recreation and sport management, offered two courses related to college athletics. The courses explored the history of the NCAA, the transfer portal in college athletics, and the new landscape of name, image, and likeness deals for athletes. Associate Dean Matt Ganio and RJ Elbin, professor of exercise science, taught a four-course series about pizza-making. Sounds delicious! I am grateful to all our OLLI instructors, volunteers, and members for their service and involvement. You are a valued part of our College of Education and Health Professions community. Visit our website, wecare.uark.edu, to learn more about the college's strategic plan. Use the QR code below to subscribe to our monthly online Leading with Care newsletter. Follow the college on Facebook and Instagram at @uacoehp or LinkedIn under its full name. I look forward to working with and supporting OLLI as it continues to serve Arkansans!
