It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Othnile Ezra Brockman on February 4, 2024, at the age of 85. He left this world surrounded by the love of his family.

Othnile, a proud Veteran, served in the U.S. Army, demonstrating his commitment to duty and country.

Othnile was born on January 26, 1939, in Star City, Ark., to his parents Ezra and Mamie Brockman.

His early life in Lincoln County revolved around the family’s country store and farm, instilling in him the strong values that defined his character.

He graduated from Star City High School and pursued higher education at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, after which he proudly served in the U.S. Army.

Returning to Star City after his military service, Othnile dedicated himself to assisting his father and mother with the family business. As his career progressed, he entered sales and later became involved in real estate development, as well as real estate investments, both commercial and residential. Alongside his wife and sons, Othnile made significant contributions to the real estate landscape, eventually becoming the principal broker for Arkansas Associates Reality, Inc., before retiring.

Despite spending the last 25 years predominantly in Fayetteville, Othnile maintained a deep affection for his home and farm in Star City. His roots remained a significant part of his identity, and he will be interred at Butler Cemetery near Star City, alongside his father and mother, as well as his grandparents and great-grandparents.

Othnile is survived by his beloved wife, Twyla, of over 60 years and his sons Greg Brockman and his wife Salina Brockman, and Rusty Brockman and his wife Michelle Brockman, all of Fayetteville, Ark. He is also survived by his granddaughters Kayla Jo Brockman of Fayetteville, Ark., Grace Scorsone of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Hannah Scorsone of Edmond, Okla. In addition, Othnile is survived by his niece and caregiver, Lana Carr, along with many other cherished family members and friends.

Throughout his life, Othnile found joy in traveling with his family. His adventurous spirit led him to explore most of the 50 states, territories, Canada, Mexico, Central America, many Caribbean islands, and several European countries. These experiences created lasting memories and strengthened the bonds within his family.

Othnile’s commitment to his faith was evident as he served as a deacon at his home church, First Assembly of God in Star City, for many years before dedicating more time to Fayetteville, Ark. His spiritual journey was an integral part of his life, and he found solace in his connection with his Savior.

Graveside services to honor Othnile’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Butler Cemetery near Star City, Ark., provided by Westfield Chapel Funeral Home of Springdale, Ark., and officiated by Reverend Dean Caldwell.
