POWELL, Mo. — David Scoggins,

-

75, of Powell, Mo., passed away February 3, 2024. Born December 16, 1948 in Ben- tonville, Ark., to Roy & Flora Scoggins.

David was a Bentonville legend. Well known, and loved by many for his laugh that could light up a room. During high school, David worked for Buell’s Greenhouse where he developed his lifelong love of plants.

After graduating Bentonville High School in 1966 and attending Harding University, he returned to Bentonville, working for both Kraft and Griffith’s printing & litho. David became a volunteer fireman just as soon as he was old enough (his cousin was fire chief) and also served as an EMT on the ambulance service.

In 1979 he purchased a farm and moved across the state line to Powell, Mo. Over the years he tried his hand at planting, growing and running a Christmas tree farm before eventually transitioning to Scoggins Angus Ranch, raising beef cattle. David worked as a salesman for his father’s downtown business, Roy’s Office Supply, eventually taking it over up until closing the business and retiring in 2007. He was an outdoorsman. When he wasn’t working on hay equipment, or things around the farm, he was often found sitting on the creek bank, or in a canoe. He loved the Razorbacks and rarely missed a game, either in person or on TV. He was truly a great man with a love for life.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Flora Scoggins, and sister, Janice Beck.

He is survived by his children, Scott and Jennifer Scoggins of Springdale, Jody and Lori Scoggins of Bentonville, and Tiffany and Josh Norwood of Powell, Mo.; grandchildren, Hanna and Tyler Cox, Christina Scoggins, Beau Scoggins, Sydney Scoggins, Jackson Norwood, and Kyla and Tyrus Morey; great-grandchildren, Ira and Rudy Cox and Cambry Morey; along with multiple nieces and nephews; as well as his cattle dog sidekick, Smoky.
