TUESDAY’S RESULTS PREP BASEBALL ROGERS HERITAGE 2, SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 1
Danny Ralpho’s squeeze bunt allowed Price Bedwell to score the decisive run as Heritage completed a 6A-West Conference sweep of Har-Ber with a win on the Wildcats’ home field.
The War Eagles (2-0, 2-0) did their scoring in the fifth inning as Jack Hamm belted a double and two walks loaded the bases. Bennett Crafton was hit by a pitch, allowing Hamm to score, before Ralpho dropped his bunt.
Har-Ber (0-2, 0-2) scored its only run in the second when Brady Smith single and later scored on Kaleb Ceola’s hit.
Luke Askew, who recorded the save in Monday’s season opener, threw a complete-game four-hitter and struck out seven in an 80-pitch outing. Ross Felder threw 5 1/3 innings and took the loss for Har-Ber.
BENTONVILLE WEST 13, FS SOUTHSIDE 3
West scored at least one run in every inning and completed its sweep of Southside with a run-rule victory at Wolverine Athletic Complex.
Kadean Jacobs had two hits and drove in five runs for the Wolverines (2-0, 2-0), including a two-run double that forced the 10-run rule. Winning pitcher Nathan Defries helped his cause with two hits, including an RBI double that started a three-run first.
Jackson Pruitt had a solo home run for Southside (0-2, 0-2).
FAYETTEVILLE 11, SPRINGDALE 1
Fayetteville banged out 13 hits, including a home run by Jude Rana, and scored at least a run in every inning to finish its sweep of Springdale at Bulldog Field.
Chayse Dutile’s second-inning RBI single broke a 1-1 tie, and Ken Paschal added a two-run double to give Fayetteville (2-0, 2-0) a 4-1 lead. Rana had an RBI double before his leadoff home run in the sixth made it 10-1 game.
Five different Purple’Dogs enjoyed a two-hit game, with Landon Schaefer also driving in two runs. Jack Pounders had two hits for Springdale, including a double to start the game, and scored the lone Red’Dog run on A.J. Woods’ triple.
Eli Patrick picked up the complete-game victory as he allowed five hits and struck out six.
ROGERS 6, BENTONVILLE 2
Rogers did all of its scoring in the first two innings and went to defeat Bentonville to complete a 6A-West series sweep at Mountie Field.
Andrew Blankenship had two hits and drove in two runs for the Mounties (20, 2-0), while Reece Bariola drove in two runs. Blankenship had RBI singles in each of the first two innings, while Bariola drove in Rogers’ first run with a sacrifice fly and allowed another run to score with his ground out.
Ty Anderson threw a complete game and allowed four hits with 10 strikeouts. Bentonville avoided a shutout with its runs in the seventh on Bodi Gist’s double.
GRAVETTE 5, ELKINS 2
Cade Phillips raced home on a wild pitch and broke a 1-1 tie as Gravette went on to defeat Elkins in nonconference play at Gravette.
Phillips scored in the second inning, and the Lions added two more in the fourth as Gunnar Woolard came home as part of a double steal and Kyle Murphy added an RBI single for a 4-1 cushion.
Woolard hits a pair of hits, walked twice and scored three times for Gravette (2-0). Three Lions pitchers combined on a two-hitter, while Jackson Miller had an RBI single for Elkins.
PREP SOFTBALL ROGERS 1, BENTONVILLE 0
Lady Mounties senior Kadence Janney fired a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and junior Talyn Jackson hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth for the game’s only run as Rogers defeated Bentonville in the season-opener, which doubled as the conference opener. Jackson and senior Mak Fithian each had two hits, while Janney also had a hit for the Lady Mounties (1-0, 1-0).
