FAYETTEVILLE — Martha Lorene Vanness Ramick,

-

born November 19, 1936, to Susan Elizabeth and Charles Eugene Vanness, passed away on March 11, 2024. She attended school in the Tull-Bauxite area, graduating from Bauxite High School. She attended Draughons School of Business in Little Rock, beginning her lifelong work of accounting and bookkeeping. Her faith and devotion to God were strong factors in her life. In fact, she met the love of her life, O.J. Ramick, Jr., at a small church and they were married one year later.

Mom was undeniably the strongest member of our family, working a full job then coming home to work equally hard to provide a beautiful and loving home for us. Despite long work hours, there were always delicious meals on the table, clean and freshly ironed clothes, a spotless house, and a waist to lock our legs around as she carried one or the other of us as she performed her tasks. Her work did not end there. She put her husband and two daughters through college and graduate educations. There was no task for her family that she considered insurmountable. She was an extraordinary cook and went to great lengths to make sure everyone who came to her house was served their favorite dish, which could make for a huge feast at family gatherings. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family. In her later years, her favorite activity was attending church on Sunday morning, greeting friends, then going out for lunch with her daughters, always insisting on paying for the meal.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have more beautiful memories of her than could ever be written. We all hold these close in our hearts and will forever cherish this beautiful, loving, spiritual and humble woman.

Mrs. Ramick was preceded in death by her dear husband of almost 60 years, O.J. Ramick, Jr., her parents as well as eight siblings and a host of brothers-inlaw, sisters-in-law, family and friends. Her sister in law, Dodie Vanness, wife of brother Jimmy, and sister in law, Patsy Worthen, sister of her husband O.J., remain to honor her memory.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Brian) and Beckye. She is survived by granddaughters Sarah, Blair and Lily and grandson Ben, multiple great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and innumerable friends and extended family.

In essence, she was a beautiful, thoughtful, gracious woman who loved family and her God above all else. She will be missed beyond knowing, but we rest assured that she has joined her Heavenly Father for eternity.

Funeral service will be Monday, March 18, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 until service time. Burial will follow at Grapevine Cemetery in Grapevine, Ark.
