FAYETTEVILLE — Louis Albert De Sio,

-

age 80, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away suddenly at home on March 30, 2024. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Lou had a strong faith in Christ as his Lord and Savior and tried to live out his faith in love and faithfulness.

Lou was born October 28, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Katherine and Bernard De Sio. He was one of four children in a close-knit family. He graduated with a BA from the University of Illinois, with a major in graphic design. After college he taught 5th and 6th grade science and math for several years before beginning to freelance in graphic design in the Chicago area. In the evenings he taught guitar at the Old Town School of Folk Music where he met his wife, Alma.

They moved to Arkansas, where he had fished once a year on the White River, and settled in Batesville. He opened Treble Clef Music Store in 1974, selling musical instruments, repairing instruments and teaching guitar lessons. One of his great loves was singing in the choir at First United Methodist Church.

Lou retired in 2011 to Fayetteville, to be close to his daughter and her family. His love of oil painting grew when the grandchildren were born. He left many beautiful portraits of family as well as landscapes of favorite travels – as well as hearts full of love.

Lou is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alma; daughter, Katie Mones and husband Greg Mones; granddaughter, Madeleine Mones; grandson, Manning Mones; sister, Bernadette Turner and husband Don Turner; nephews, Josh Turner and wife Julie, and Matthew Turner and wife Nancy; and many great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 11:00. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
