BASEBALL

ROGERS 3, BENTONVILL­E WEST 2

The Mounties used a sacrifice fly by Caleb Champion in the fifth and another by Andrew Blankenshi­p in the sixth to rally for the 6A-West Conference win. Trailing 2-1, Rogers tied it without a hit in the fifth. Hudson Henagan drew a walk and Jake Taylor was hit by a pitch. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Champion then hit a fly ball to score Henagan to tie the game. In the sixth, Zach Lawing was hit by a pitch, Reese Bariola drew a walk and Aidan Linson beat out a bunt to load the bases. Blankenshi­p, the designated hitter, then lifted a fly ball to score Lawing with the eventual game-winner. Linson picked up the win for Rogers (16-2, 8-1) in relief. He retired the Wolverines 1-2-3 in the seventh. West (11-9, 6-5) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first aided by three Rogers errors. But Jacob Watson’s solo homer in the bottom of the inning tied the game. The Wolverines went ahead 2-1 thanks to a bunt single by Blayne Elsey in the third. ROGERS HERITAGE 9, BENTONVILL­E

3 The War Eagles scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to snap a 3-3 tie and remain undefeated with a 6A-West Conference win. Ethan Martin’s three-run triple off the center-field wall was the big blow for Heritage. Martin went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, drove in three runs and scored one, while Bennett Crafton, Cooper Mann and Spencer Mounce had two hits each for the War Eagles (17-0, 9-0). Mann and Luke Askew drove in a run and scored a run. Dillon Askew picked up the win with 1 1/3 innings of hitless relief. Eli McCall doubled and drove in two runs for Bentonvill­e (8-10, 4-7).

SOFTBALL

BENTONVILL­E 2, GRAVETTE 1 Kylee Wyman’s RBI double scored Marissa Gianneschi for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Lady Tigers picked up a nonconfere­nce win over the Lady Lions at the Tiger Athletic Complex. Gravette (9-6) scored a run in the top of the first on a Keeley Elsea double, which scored Brynn Romine. The Lady Tigers (15-5) tied the game in the second when Gianneschi reached on an error and Demi Donahoe scored. Romine and Elsea each had two of Gravette’s five hits. Brooke Handle gave up one earned run in 6 2/3 innings with four hits and three strikeouts for Gravette. Ryann Sanders went the distance for Bentonvill­e, allowing one run, five hits with 10 strikeouts.

FORT SMITH SOUTHSIDE 6, FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 4 The Lady Mavericks rallied from a 4-0 deficit to pick up their first 6A-West Conference win. The victory for Southside snapped an eight-game losing steak to rival Northside dating back to 2018. The Lady Bears scored four runs in the first inning with Eden Davis hitting a two-run home run and Averi Childers and Mallory Craig also scoring runs. The Lady Mavericks (2-12, 1-7) got a run back in the second and then scored four in fourth to take a 5-4 lead. Kylie Hass hit a tworun home run for Southside as part of the four-run fourth, and the Lady Mavericks scored two more runs on a Nadrah Al-Aidi double. Southside added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth. Felicity Suggs and Al-Aidi each had two hits for Southside with Suggs scoring two runs and Al Aidi driving in two runs. Laney Emmert also scored two runs for the Lady Mavericks. Isabella Sartin went the distance in the circle for Southside allowing 3 hits, 2 earned runs with 3 strikeouts. Autumn Phelan took the loss for Northside (5-9, 1-8), allowing 5 earned runs, 4 walks and 7 hits with 3 strikeouts in four innings. Craig pitched two scoreless innings with four strikeouts.

GIRLS SOCCER

BENTONVILL­E WEST 3, FORT

SMITH NORTHSIDE 2 Whitney Carrigan, Tianna Jones and Hadley Moore each scored goals for the Lady Wolverines in the 6A-West Conference win. Peyton Norby, Madison Coleman and Carrigan each had assists for West (6-4-2, 2-0-1). Kari Carter had a goal for Northside (8-2, 1-3) and Liset Vallejo had a goal on a penalty kick.

BOYS SOCCER

FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 1, BENTONVILL­E WEST 1

The Grizzlies and Wolverines played to a draw in a 6A-West Conference action. Jose Armijo scored a goal for Northside (4-3-3, 0-3-1). Caleb Crusinberr­y scored for West (2-6-3, 0-2-1) off a cornerkick from Mateo Soto Gomez.
